Do Americans ( From the USA) always want to live in the Mother country Britain?

We have a number of Hollywood stars and other high pro Yanks living in the UK , you cant balme them really can you they would rather live in the mother country than in one of those backward colonies that doesn't even have a free health service , is made up of migrants from all over the world, lives in wooden houses and shoots you if you walk on their lawn.

As for the land of the free and the home of the brave most Yanks have been watching to many Hollywood propaganda films, Britain was free and had an elected Parliament in 1689, we formed and run your country for 200 yrs before 1776, we had the biggest empire the world had ever seen and will ever see again,

we invented practically everything from the Steam engine ,railways , underground tube to you , radio, penicillin, jet engine , first mechanical Computer first Analogue Computer, first jet airliner the comet, first police force ever , cure for smallpox, radar, electromagnetism i.e. Faraday, DNA joint with you, Industrial revolution, TV, Aircraft carrier, BBC the list is endless

we have nice green little villages with old county cottages to live in we have paperboys who post it (mail it) though the letterbox in our doors instead of throwing at you to try and hit you and ( what is it with that stupid box that you have at the front of your gardens doing there anyway) friendly coppers without guns,

We founded Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, Rhodesia and YOU

to be born British is to win first prize in the lottery of Life. Cecil Rhodes.

Milton, Shakespeare, Elgar, Darwin, Churchill, HG Wells and loads more are household names all over the world.

Our actors dominate your Film industry and only live there for the money

Why in heavens Name would anybody let alone a brit want to live anywhere else

Land of Hope and Glory Mother of the Free lol ho ha ha

Welcome home to the motherland expats lol

Update:

Yeah see what i mean KC936 only 18% of the population formed and run the place, founded by englishmen , john Adams, Hamiltiton , madison, jefferson, Franklin and not forgetting Ex Brit officer Georgy boy Washington, as the USA , the measures are all british you still use gallons miles , btu, feet and inches, the law is based on English common Law, and most of you still speak a form of English

Not bad for a country that is 82% non British descent ruling and shapeing eveyone else LOL

Update 2:

Easy im whatever,

Not a word of fiction in any of my rant look it up if can still read English over there , like I said Yanks watch too many Hollywood films, I suppose you believe that an american sub Captured the german enigma machine in U571 instead of the Royal Navy which of course is the truth, you werent even in the war then, silly billy ha ha ho

Update 3:

only 10% of the population of Britain is not an an immigrant , sorry Evie you are blowing smoke there I would get an education in demographics and genetic markers if I were you , last time I studied this the genetic reseach showed that 75% of the population is still largely descended from either celts or saxons with a signifcant dash of viking

Update 4:

No I know keaton more like gulping Buds and stuffing big macs and having your house dismantled to get you out and chopper your way to hospital

Update 5:

shell , you really ought to stop eating those big macs and watching the US history channel we had alreadly beat the germans when you came into the war and got yourselves slaughtered at your first engagement with Rommel at the Meseline pass in North Africa, ( a defeated German Army by the way that British General Montgomery had just routed at Alamien) before which of course we won the Battle of Britain on our own, and forget saving Private Stupid you Yanks only made up 46% of the the armies on D Day all the rest were British and Canadian, sorry to burst your arrogant Yank bubble fairly tale history

Oh I nearly forgot The cadilac of skys in that silly film the Mustang a north American Fighter Had a British Merlin Engine in it because the original pratt & whitney was a load of rubbish

Update 6:

You woundnt exist Hanseuge you woudnt even have been a country without us Jeez dont u even know your own history 13 English Colonies and all that

Update 7:

Ok shell I give you that we are not very good at preserving our teeth I shoud know practically all of mine are implants another fairy tale I heard was that the tooth Brush was an African invention could be I Suppose, but with all our world firsts I woundt be surpised if I looked it up that the British invented Teeth lol

Also I left Issac Newton out of the list first Englishman to decover Gravity

You can sit here and type all day long.

You can continue to point out the obvious.

You can tell them "real" history. However no matter what you say, they won't believe you. History books in America have been rewritten. Children in school do not learn real history. They learn the version the government wants them to know. Your version of history is pretty much true, but 99.99% of Americans will argue with you that things didn't happen that way. They don't know any better.

As far as health care goes. Yeah, the NHS has issues...what health care system doesn't. However even with it's problems, the NHS still kicks anything America has now or will get anytime soon. In America 3/4 of all bankrupticies are due to medical bills, and 50% of those had medical insurance. Americans won't believe this, because they have swallowed the propaganda hook, line and sinker.

Americans will argue that the UK pays outrageous taxes. Which you do pay higher taxes than Americans. However with those taxes, you also get your health care and a support system that stomps Americans support systems. (they won't believe that either)

In the UK you can afford more taxes because generally speaking the wages are higher in the UK, and the cost of living (for average people) is lower. Even after paying taxes and your NHI contributions, people in the UK still take home more money in their pockets than most people in America do.

Oh and here is one for ya. In America when someone starts a new job..they have to work a yr BEFORE they are entitled to one day of vacation. After a yr, the norm is one week unpaid vacation a yr. That's it. In the UK the norm is 5 weeks paid vacation starting immediately. Oh and the normal work week in the US is 40 hours. That usually does not include paid lunches. Can you imagine that?

I could go on and on. I have lived in England before I met my now husband (who is English..lol wonder where I met him lol) Before I went to England the idea of actually making my life there had never crossed my mind. Now after living there, I can honestly say I would gladly trade my American citizenship for British citizenship...in a heart beat. 3/4 of Americans do not even own a passport, so they have never been outside the US. They have nothing to compare the US to, other than the dribble they are fed on tv or print. They don't understand that they have been lied to for a very long time. That America is not the greatest country on Earth.

I was about to answer with something about wars and how the USA picks horrible fights, but apparently this is about fighting. Honestly, I'd think it'd be the other way around, Americans tend to be proud of almost everything American, whether they should be or not. It's probably just a personal thing, maybe it's because the other countries have less of a reputation and are looking for something to prove, something else to be proud of and this is their chance. Just a thought.

Wow... you're going to be annoying some American's here....

I think you should remember that our country isn't all that great. I'm not saying America is fantastic, no country's perfect, but here in England at the moment is not a great place to live. I mean, come on, all the chavs running about?? Pathetic.

Also, I don't know why you made a point of America having lots of immigrants, because our country is made up of people imigrating here too - only about 10% of the population can actually claim to be fully British. Anyway, I'm proud of the ethnic diversity, and I bet lots of Americans are too.

Try not to be too nationalistic, dear.

EDIT: And what were the saxons? IMMIGRANTS! As well as the Vikings! And the Romans before that! Learn some history!

Well when you say motherland your actually refering to the russian motherland. The UK is known as a fatherland because the romans were considered east of that territory. But to answer your question we americans miss the taste of UK chili bean products. Sometimes we even ponder climbing the churches and meeting the queen.

Just because a number of Americans have moved to Britain you think all Americans want to? How about this.. Why do all Brits want to move to America? Not all Americans want to, but if they do they have their own personal reasons for doing so. If you ever meet an American in Britain you could talk to them in person and inquire about their reasons for migrating. I, myself, am fine with staying in America. I have no real interest in sipping tea and eating crumpets.

Well, I lived in Bath a couple years ago for a bit, and I quite enjoyed my time there.

And I will confess that I have a jar of double Devonshire cream in my refrigerator. *blush*

(You should have also noted that our patriotic song "My Country Tis of Thee" is set to the tune of your national anthem. :P)
