Hmm, I was wondering the same thing actually. Brett Favre won`t be around forever, and the had a chance to get a fresh start with someone young. I thought for sure, that Clausen was going to Minnesota, but somehow ended up in Carolina.

There was no point. They strongly believe Brett Favre is returning. Also they stated that even if he didn't, any quarterback they would draft wouldn't lead them to the Super Bowl anyway. Why waist your pick on someone who for sure won't get you to the next step (a quarterback) when you can use it to improve areas that need fixing (their secondary)?

They probably didn't want to end up like the Packers did. Brett said he wanted to retire every year so they drafted his replacement. Then he didn't retire so someone had to go. Do you make that pick a wasted one or do you drop the guy who is old?

at least you have had a few good qb. im a bears fan and we havent had a good qb in about 40 years or so until cutler landed here? so just imagine what we went through... good luck and may the best team win the division.

cuz they put the blood sweet tears and playbook study to get jackson ready and jackson proble lerned from farve so they signed jackson again in case farve retires but they think he wont and they might pick QB in free agents next season or draft one next draft

They did in the 6th round. Joe Webb. They figured Brett Favre would be back, and if not, they still have the guy they were going to start if it wasn't for him, Tarvaris Jackson.

They are probably looking at free agent QBs in the next offseason and of course one to draft next year.

For the same reason the Bills didn't there weren't any top ranked ones available. So why waist a 1st pick on a 2nd string QB.

The reason is they wanted to show Favre that they have faith he would come back one last time and they didn't want him to think they have a back up plan which would give him a better chance of not coming back.

They believe Sage Rosenfels is the QB of the future!
