For those that play the 3-4 Defense in football games such as Madden (more recent games)?

I'm just curious, do you prefer to use traditional 4-3 DE's as your 3-4 DE's or do you use lighter and quicker DT's that are typically bigger and stronger DE's?

What I mean is this: When you look at Free Agents, you will see a lot of guys listed as DE's. They are at that position depending upon what they played before. It doesn't classify them by 3-4 DE or 4-3 DE. For example, in Madden 09', Corey Williams is listed as a DE. However, if he plays on a 4-3 defense such as this upcoming year, he will be listed as a DT. Typically, the undersized DT's play the 3-4 DE role the best because they are strong enough to hold their own.

Considering this is a video game though, opinions can change. Anything is possible. So I'm just curious if any of you that use the 3-4 defense adjust the player's roles. I just want to see what other gamers do with that scheme compared to myself.

What I do is this (Madden 09 Version): I have 4 DT's, with one being Sedric Ellis and is strong enough to be the NT. The other DT's play as my DE's. For my actual DE's, the only good one I have is Derrick Harvey if he counts, and he only plays on obvious passing downs (Nickel and Dime Package). The rest of my DE's are the cheapest on the market and never play. They are just there so i can meet the roster breakdown requirement. So, I'm just wondering what you do and just comparing. Yes, what i do works very well by the way.

***Yes, I am asking this in the football section because this is a really long and boring offseason! haha. need to change it up i guess.***

In real life I'm a fan of the 3-4, but from what I can tell it doesn't make much sense to use in Madden. The point of a 3-4 defense is for the linemen to take up blockers, as I'm sure you know, but in Madden (at least from what I can tell) they only have one on one blocking assignments, so there ends up being two free linemen.

But I still have no idea whether size matters for 3-4 linemen in Madden, and I've had 4-3 sized linemen be effective in a 3-4, so I feel like strength and power moves are probably the attributes to look for, as opposed to block shedding and finesse moves.

i like the 4-4-2 diamond in football and givees the best oppertunity to play good offense to score goals with still having some defense

k so you need to get your strongest d-lineman to play Nose Tackle and then use stronger defensive lineman who have good acceleration for defensive end
