Why do people think that those of us in the military have "freedom of speech"?

Update:

Slavery? I wouldn't call serving my country slavery. Slaves never made what I do at my paygrade or enjoyed the lifestyle I have on my off duty hours.

Update 2:

@Pluto: Who pays me? Well since those of us in uniform pay taxes as well.....

    Most people have no idea about the military, but still like to talk like they do. Just like when someone talks $hit on you because you wanted to serve your country, they are too simpleminded to see that you are a hero and should be looked up to. Those people don't have the courage to put themselves on the line for the rest of us, and they hide behind their "war is wrong" statements. What it all comes down to is people are stupid, and can't get it through their skulls that you are fighting for their right to be so.

    LMAO@Lawman,,dang hun you really are clueless and just prejudiced I think ,.,Conservatives in a large majority are pro-military you knuckle head,and weather we like Obama or not..Mc Crystal had to go,the last place we as a people want to see descent is in our military..they do have their own opinions and most likely do Speak them among military buds,,but they would never openly dissent against the Commander in Chief its just not done not ever!! My father was 25 yrs air force and Bush sr was running for his second term before he ever spoke of his total dislike for Carter,he had been retired for around 6 yrs,,this code of conduct runs deep with our troops,

    They are chicken hawks who would never stray so far from a Wal-Mart to actually serve in the military and therefore have no clue.

    If they only knew about PXs.

    How much trouble would I have gotten in back 92-94 for saying the same things about Clinton or Bush I in Somalia? Probably more, right? I would not have been "allowed to retire." (Of course Rolling Stone would never have written an article about me either. Imagine instead of "Runaway General, "Insignificant Specialist")

    There is not a single statement ascribed to McChrystal in that article that is critical of Obama, his strategy, or the administration.

    Obama decided to fire him before he even read the article. Just like he decided to sue Arizona without reading their ten page immigration law.

    Because they either haven't spent time in the military, or haven't lived with anyone who has. It's a lifestyle that you really do have to live to understand.

    We don't. The depth of your slavery for the cause of "freedom" guides us to accept our depth of slavery.

    @Who pays you?

    I work overseas for non-US in neo-socialist system. The societal freedoms I enjoy make US society a fascist slave complex.
