In most cases, the P.C. stands for PRIVATE CORPORATION. It means the individual has gone through the legal process to create a business entity registered under his/her own name. You create a PRIVATE CORPORATION under your own name to separate your business affairs from your personal affairs. It is done to limit your liability. Should someone sue you for your business conduct, they cannot go after your PERSONAL assets (home, car, savings, investments, etc.), they can only attach the assets registered to the PRIVATE CORPORATION.
