Is there a Guitar That Sounds Like An Acoustic But Looks Like An Electric Guitar? (No Amp)?

I like the way Electric Guitars Look opposed to acoustic guitars but I won't need an amp because I won't be playing in front of crowds, and Acoustic Guitars sound better than an electric guitar without an amp.

Help Me.

The distinctive acoustic sound comes (primarily) from its large and hollow body.

The only un-amplified guitars (keyword being un-amplified) that are going to sound like that are large, hollow bodies. There's no magic or mystery to it.

Many hollow body electrics will sound similar to acoustic guitars, and semi-hollow electrics as well - though less so.

Solid body electrics, un-amplified, will never have an acoustic sound. HOWEVER, if you are open to getting a decent amplifier, a solid body electric with a piezo bridge can sound strikingly similar to an acoustic guitar. Rather than a large, hollow chamber amplifying the string vibrations, it uses a mic and amplifier to do the same. You won't get as rich and vivid a sound as you would with a good quality acoustic guitar, but an electric guitar with a piezo has its place.

    A few examples:

    Many/most Parker guitars

    The various Petrucci models

I would look into a Fender Stratacoustic which can be picked up for about $250 but the Ibanez Talman is the same kind of thing for about $200-300 depending where you look.

But an amp isn't just for playing in front of crowds. You can get a small one that won't upset your neighbors, and keep in mind that an electric guitar is often cheaper than a similar quality acoustic guitar. Don't go cheap with whatever you decide to get though, with instruments you tend to get what you pay for.

    Good Luck
