How do I find out about dyslexia and what it means for an adult?
my co- worker may be dyslexic. she went to high school for 5 years and failed out cause she could not pass any of her math classes. she did fine in all the other classes but math. She took the GED test 3 times and fail those cause she could not pass the math section. she has tried to get help to try and understand math but she just can not get the hang of it. so my question are:

A adult education psychologist should be able to test her for dyslexia, Davis correction centres and Irlens clincians can also test for dyslexia. Optometrists cannot test for dyslexia, unless specifically trained and accredited as such.
I suspect she may have what is called dyscalculia which affects the person ability to comprehend maths. I would imagine if she does have a form of dyslexia, she'd be entitled to some sort of support, such as tutor, note take, access to a computer etc to help her pass her GED, but you would need to find out once she has a diagnoses, and then ensure she gets the help she needs.
I think it sucks that she did not get her GED just because she failed the maths component, but I failed high school due dyslexia, I did not learn to read until I was 14, despite being able to write. When I was going through school, dyslexia was rarely heard of, so it was not picked up.
