What is a good brand of tequila?

I'm getting ready for the fourth of July, and I am ready to get ****-faced, and set my mom on fire. Does anyone know any good brands of tequila that are relatively low in cost? ... also, any other types of enjoyable liquor that i can consume with my friends, that you know of would be appreciated if you would let me know. thanks!!!!

Update:

Tequila is like drinking cognac. Depending on age and process they are smooth and don't have the bite some of the less expensive brands do. For my pleasure, I serve my friends Don Julio Anejo, Chinaco, in a snifter or Sauza Hornitos. I mention Sauza because it is a direct distillate and not cut with water for a medium priced tequila witch makes it a little smoother. Tequila neet...the only way to drink it!! Enjoy

Milagro silver is lovely, as silver tequilas come anyway. It runs about $20 a fifth, that's about as cheap as you'll find decent tequila. In general, if it says 100% agave it's fine. Don't drink Cuervo.

Other drinks? Well Vodka is standard, if you're mixing you don't need good stuff, just get Smirnoff or Svedka. Gin is abnormal in this generation. Though I like it, most young adult don't. If you want gin though, Gordons or Seagrams is acceptable for cheap. The thing about gin is the flavoring covers a lot of the low quality alcoholyness, so top shelf isn't necessary for a nice drink. I'd stay away from Whiskeys and Burbons, if you really want a whiskey, for for the standard Jack Daniels or Jim Beam, both are fine and fairly cheap.

However what I really recommend is rum. Rum is an all around lovely drink, in flavor, enjoyment, mixibility, and versatility. I like spiced rums, but they come flavored too. For spice rums, Captain Morgan is fairly standard, and decent stuff too. However one rum that's usually overlooked is Sailor Jerry. I'd say in terms of mixing it's definitely better than the Captain and runs about the same price. It's got a really unique cherry and vanilla flavor that comes out when mixed with coke, pepsi or dr pepper. If you want a mixer, Definitely go with Sailor Jerry.

As for white rums, there are some nice ones, but I'd stay away, there's too much out there like Bacardi, which, though popular, is pretty nasty. As for flavored rums, the thing is, they tend to have lower alcohol contents than white and spiced rums. However Captain Morgan Parrot Bay tastes absolutely wonderful. Malibu isn't too bad either.

hornitos is pretty good, not that much of a piercing taste, smoother than petron in my opinion.

of course, it resulted in both me and a friend vomitting on the beach earlier today, so maybe its TOO smooth.

then again, 2 of us didnt vomit, so, hey, it's 50-50.
