Oil pressure and Jeep Wrangler question?

When I start up my Jeep oil pressure is normal (and it is sitting after start up). After I run it for a bit it hovers around normal but when I go really slow or come to a stop oil pressure is around 10 on the gage (practically 0). When I start moving again it goes right back up to normal. - I have full oil according to the dip stick. Does anyone know what would cause this?

Update:

:D - Thanks Acrenrac - :) - Do they take credit cards? ;)

Update 2:

:) - So do I - I am glad it is not too expensive. I had a hunch that it might be something like that - a sensor or something - but you confirmed it. - off to advanced auto parts after work I guess. :p

Update 3:

Thanks Everyone - I will change out my oil - see if that works, If not, I will then change the oil sending unit. If i get it done before this question goes to vote - A best answer will be awarded. Thanks again. :)

When's the last time you changed the oil? When it was changed was the correct viscosity oil used. Sounds more like a viscosity issue, the oil is getting "thin" after it warms up. Try changing your oil and filter, being sure to use a good quality, multi-viscosity oil as recommended for your year jeep and engine.

Oil sending unit is a possibility. Fairly cheap place to start. Here is a link of what one looks like, yours could be different. Yours could be located near the oil filter or in the oil pan. Good luck!

Oil pressure at idle will typically be low after the engine is hot and the oil thins out. This is specially true for older engines.

if it has 40 psi oftentimes then the engine remains sturdy today, i'd verify the stress alleviation valve for particular, also verify the oil pump stress for placed on and tear and ensure there isnt a baffle contained in the oil pan coming loose....an oil filter out ought to reason the area as well yet once you've replaced it and the area remains there that ought to wish to rule it out till you used the exact same filter out.... wish this permits
