Disney World vs. Universal Studios (roller coasters)?
My family is planning a vacation to Orlando soon, and we need to know which one is better. I know this has been asked so many time, but I haven't gotten a direct answer, seeing as I could care less about attractions. There are no small children in our family, we just want to go to the one with better/bigger rides. This said, which is better?

Disney is more aimed toward younger children, so all of the coasters are less rough for a lower height requirement. Their roughest roller coaster is usually considered Space Mountain which is literally an indoor Wild Mouse.
Universal is much better. There are more actual thrill rides in the Islands of Adventure. (The actual studios has more simulated rides.) The Islands of Adventure has the Incredible Hulk, the Dueling Dragons (maybe it's Dragon Challenge now), and Dr. Doom's Fearfall which are probably better than all of Disney's thrill rides. Also Universal Studios has The Hollywood Rip, Ride, and Rockit. It's a giant coaster which you pick music to listen to while riding. I waited in a long line the day my plane was supposed to leave, and I don't regret it at all.
Universal's indoor attractions that are simulated are also thrilling. The Simpsons ride feels like you are actual moving with a screen all around you and a moving cart.
The answer is obviously Universal which is not at all targeted toward young children which makes the rides more enjoyable for teenagers and adults.

I have been to both numerous time. If you have time/money to go to both then go for it. If not: Disney is a great place to go to for the entire family. There are 4 parks and 2 water parks. They also have some great promotions going on (ex the Dining Plan) and they have nice value resorts. The Magic Kingdom has very mild thrill rides, and so does Animal Kingdom. Hollywood Studio's has a couple high-thrill rides and EPCOT has some pretty sweet rides as well. Basically, it's a good park to go to if you aren't a top thrill seeker and just want roller coasters all the time. Universal Studio's and Islands of Adventure is geared more towards people who like thrill rides. There are 2 sides to the park - IOA and US. The studio's side is a lot of "ride the movies", but they just recently added the Simpson's ride and have some other great rides (Earthquake and Jaws to name a couple). IOA is mostly thrill rides. It is the newer section of Universal. It has lands, each with a different theme. There are tons of great rides (the Hulk, Spiderman, Dudley Do Right's Ripsaw Falls to name a few) and the park is adding a Harry Potter world in 2010. All in all, if you like thrills, go to Universal. If you want a family vacation go to Disney. Personally, I prefer Disney just because it's magical and you always have a great time, but my family prefers Universal because they like rides and a break from Disney (we used to go to all the parks when I was younger). Either way you go, you'll have an amazing time!

Well, Disney has MORE attractions because it is much bigger. But Universal has more BIG attractions.
The main thrill rides at Disney are Space Mountain*, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain*, Expedition Everest, Dinosaur, Mission: Space, Test Track, Rock n Roller Coaster, and Tower of Terror. *small coasters
The main thrill rides at Universal are Rip Ride Rockit, the Mummy Returns, Dragon Challenge, Jurassic Park, the Hulk, Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls, of which all of these are all pretty major thrill rides.
One important thing to think about, however, is how long you are going. Universal Studios is a 1-2 day park, and Islands of Adventure is a 1 day park. So if your trip is much longer than that, you might want to split your time and spend some time at Disney.

universal studios roller coasters are thrilling, the only thrilling coasters at disney are rock n roller coaster and space mountain, rock n roller coaster is the only looping coaster at disney. But i am 13 and love roller coasters and thrill rides, but, i would still prefer disney over universal.
