R&P: What Are Your Favorite Rockumentaries?
I watched "The Kids Are Alright" last night, and I was completely blown away. What other rock docs should I check out/do you like? (i've already seen "the Song Remains the Same", didn't really thrill me)

I can only comment on the Rock Docs that I've seen. I'm sure I've missed some good ones.
Not in any order:
The Kids Are Alright - Great, great great!
Gimme Shelter - Sad and tragic. Very historic. The violent end of the summer of love era
The Beatles Anthology - I'd probably watch any rock Doc about the Beatles. You've Gotta love em
This Is Spinal Tap - The best thing to do, is watch 4 or 5 real Roc Docs, then watch the first "Mockumentary". It's so much funnier after watching real rock stars, in all their self importance.
The Decline Of Western Civilization: The Metal Years. Great stuff. Captures all that hair metal orgy and excess. But I did not like the way the filmmaker slanted, the film to make a statement about the genre. A guy briefly mentions suicide and she grills him to death about it and makes his entire interview about suicide, next we see a bunch of drinking and excess. We get it! Drugs are bad!
Also, let's not forget some classic, concert/documentaries:
The Song Remains the Same - Shades of brilliance, but mostly ehh. But, a must see for true fans
Woodstock: The earth Mother of all Rock Docs, if you can take 184 min of hippies and rock n roll
Monterrey Pop Festival - The Grateful Dead, The Byrds, The Animals, The Who, Hendrix , Joplin, Otis Redding, the list goes on. A coin toss decided which band would close. Pete Townsend and Hendrix refused to go on after each other. The Who blew up their drum kit, smashed their guitars and thought, 'let's see Jimi top that'. Hendrix came on, played behind his back and with his teeth, humped his amp, set his guitar on fire and then smashed it. Take that!
Jimi Hendrix (1973) - Great concert footage. Rare acoustic jam, insightful interviews.
Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii (1972) - Oh my god! Echoes, A Saucerful of Secrets and One of These Days, live, in the ancient ruins of Pompeii, without an audience. Absolutely must see footage! The rest are studio recordings. Favorite studio song- Mademoiselle Nobs (a dog howling lead vocals into a mic). Do not watch this on youtube. Rent it, smoke or drink it and crank it. It's heavenly
Oh yeah, good call people. The Ramones EOTC and The Last Waltz are great

The Kids Are Alright is excellent.
Also:
Don't Look Back (Bob Dylan)
Let It Be (Beatles) Wonderful if you can track it down. I saw it on VHS in 1990 as a rental and have never seen it anywhere since.
Imagine: John Lennon (1988)

For me it's either "Metal: A Headbangers Journey" or "Global Metal" (Both made by Sam Dunn).
