What type of chain goes on a 1977 Kawasaki KZ400?

I need to buy a new chain, but I don't have a manual for the bike and I'm no mechanical expert... I found something that says it uses a 530-100 chain but I'm not sure, does anyone else know where I could find out (or do you know)?

The 530/100 chain is correct for your bike, and it should be 15t/45t sprockets. Some of the other KZ's used a 98 link chain, but 100 link should be just fine.

Get your Kawi's VIN number and enter in the correct field on the URL posted below. I have no idea if they will have a manual available for a bike that old, but it's worth a shot. It should also have a detailed parts section separated by sections of the bike which outlines the exact OEM parts that were installed on the bike.
