Question about German and Yiddish...?

I know Dutch and Afrikaans are quite mutually intelligible, I was wondering if standard German was mutually intelligible with Yiddish?

Noooot exactly. Yiddish is also influenced by Hebrew, and it's just very ''misshapen'' German. :p It's easy to understand some, but not THAT easy.

Edit: xD Sorry, but that's incorrect Dutch. :P We would say it like this:

''Als je reactie/antwoord de/het beste blijkt te zijn/is, (dan) zul je de punten ontvangen.''

Source(s): Could you pick my answer? I support the Netherlands, and our national color is orange.. So I'd really like my TC-badge back. :)

With Yiddisch its nearly the same it sounds like a German Dialekt, as you know German you can understand big parts of Yiddisch. Some words in Yiddisch are from other countries and not German

    so called east Jiddisch influence.
