Solutions that have a high pH are those that can accept hydrogen ions easily. Upon reaction with acids, which can donate its hydrogen ions, high pH substances can form neutral solution with a pH of 7. However, this is true only for strong acids and bases. Strong bases include those that have reactive hydroxide species like sodium hydroxide (OH) and others are called weak bases like ammonia.

Examples of bases that we use include soaps.

a high PH would be an alkaline or Base as more commonly called. Oven cleaner is a common household base. Also ammonia and bleach. Sodium hydroxide will have the highest PH and is used in most cleaning products and detergents.

Anything above pH 7 is a base

    Below 7 is an Acid

    7 is Neutral
