How do you tell someone they have good breath?

Wow, your breath smells really [minty]. It could be "cinnamony" or simply really nice :) I imagine that facial expressions or body language in general will help to convey what you're meaning. For example, if you simply have a smile on your face (such as the one in your avatar pic) and state it in a matter-of-fact fashion, then that should probably do the trick. If, for another example, you stand really close to the person's face, lower the volume of you voice, and twitch your eyebrows a bit, then that would probably change the meaning significantly :-P

I don't think that noticing one's breath smells nice in and of itself is a sin. Unsolicited compliments (solicited being something along the lines of asking how clothing or hair looks and such) can potentially be uncomfortable to a person depending upon the nature of the relationship the two people have with one another. For example, I wouldn't have a problem saying it to a relative or one of my lifelong friends; but, an acquaintance might feel uneasy about it, so I -- personally speaking -- would probably keep it to myself. It largely depends on who it is and how comfortable we are with each other as well as the occasion and setting.
