Why are streets and parking lots often made of asphalt, but sidewalks of concrete?
I'm guessing it has to do with cost, durability, and/or smoothness, but I was just thinking about this question while walking to work.
BQ- Was this the best category for this question and if not, which would have been better? Why?

8 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoHow do you tell someone they have good breath?
Don't you think he or she deserves to be recognized for such an accomplishment? Or do you think it might lead to the sin of lust on your part or the sin of arrogance on his or hers? (Adding that last question there so that it sounds like it belongs in R&S).

logical fallacies?
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow do I find which channel on the television for video playback on a Mustek dv326l?
Unfortunately, this is one of those things that the (skimpy) "quick guide" does not cover.
This is what I've tried so far:
1) turned on the camera (that's been known to help, I've heard);
2) put the camera on playback mode using the "mode" button;
3) connected the cable from the back of the camera to a tv; and,
4) scanned through the channels using the channel set > add/delete options, but none of them display the playback.
1 AnswerCamcorders1 decade agoIsn't it amazing how SOME non-Christians know what Christians believe better than Christians do?
Just the most recent example I've come across: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=200708...
And isn't it amazing how almost every Christian basically gave an answer that differed from what the non-Christians claimed they believed? Thanks all the same, but I was under the impression that we could speak for ourselves. Or are some of you simply worried that what we say might make sense that you have to go around constructing straw men to parody?
22 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWould it be possible for me to study a subject for a long time and still come to the wrong conclusions?
What if a bunch of my friends studied it as well and came to the same (or similar enough) conclusions, would that mean we were right?
What if another, smaller group of guys studied the same thing, but came to much different conclusions... would my group be right, especially if we outnumbered them by a large amount, simply because there's more of us than them?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoBoth Java Console 6.0.1 and 6.0.2 on Firefox... Should I remove 6.0.1 and, if so, how?
Running W2K and I have Java (TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1 and Java (TM) 6 Update 2 in my add/remove programs.
1 AnswerSoftware1 decade agoWould any true Marxist promote laissez faire capitalism?
How would you go about determining what a "true Marxist" was? Or will some people say that this is a "true Scotsman fallacy" even though Marxism (like Christianity) is a belief rather than a nationality?

1 AnswerYahoo Answers1 decade agoIn what way does the Trinity contradict "ehad" in Deuteronomy 6:4?
Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear, O Israel, Yahweh our God is one Yahweh."
Genesis 2:24 "Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife and they shall become one flesh."
Word used for "one" in Deuteronomy 6:4: "ehad".
Word used for "one" in Genesis 2:24: "ehad".
Word that could have been used in Deuteronomy 6:4 if the writer had meant "unique, a single or only one": "yahed".
The way "ehad" is consistently used in the Tanakh: "a compound unity, one made up of others"; see also Genesis 1:5, 2:11, 2:21, 3:22, 49:16, Numbers 13:23, Psalms 34:20, Jeremiah 8:10 (translated as "altogether" in JPS).
Did I miss anything?

3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAtheists: Do you use magnetic resonance imaging?
I was just wondering since the person who pioneered its use to distinguish between healthy and diseased tissue was a creationist, Dr Raymond Damadian.
