Recommend some good music anime?

Question

I just loved K-on and just finished watching beck, which was also absolutely amazing. I'd like something with more of Becks feel though, because K-on kind of wanders off into "friendship" rather than "music". I don't want much drama, and i don't want it to focus so much on romance, it drowns out the music aspect. I'm fine with any type of music, but I like the style music that beck put out the most i guess.

Animes I watched:

>Piano no Mori the movie

Oh, and I do like a good story with a good storyline and a good soundtrack, such as FLCL. If you know of any, then go ahead and put them down, only keep the music based animes separate from the good sound tracked animes please.

I highly recommend Nodame Cantabile. It's about classical music, but the story and characters are very well done and inviting to viewers who have no interest in classical. It's a comedy and romance. It has really high ratings from AniDB users.



I also recommend Macross F (Frontier). It has a lot of insert songs and a very high production budget. I am a fan of some of the songs. It has a complex story that's decent and decent characters. I'm mostly impressed by the visuals and audio which I found made it really enjoyable.

Angel Beats has a ton of different insert songs and a high production budget to go with it. It has somewhat ok ratings, but I have only watched the first episode and figured it wasn't for me. I'd imagine you'd either love or hate it.


My 2 favorite songs came from anime. Look up:

Kalafina - Oblivious
Kalafina - Sprinter

They're from the Kara no Kyoukai OVA series. I'm not really a fan of the anime though, though the artwork is very nice.

All of the Macross series are excellent music anime.  They also have sci-fi, mechs, and romance in them, too.  The older Macross's may be harder to find due to their age (the first one is over 25 years old), but the latest one, Macross Frontier, is fairly new, and arguably the best out of all of them.
