In Islam why is it that women are stoned to death for adultery but not the men who commit it with them?
Is it possible that the men are unmarried are are only supposed to be flogged or it is a society thing..where only women are accountable?
troubled muslim
to clarify, i do know that islam prescribes stoning for both women and men if adultery is committed, but from my observation when this act does occur, the woman if convicted gets stoned but i never get to hear wot happened to the man with whom the woman committed adultery......
In addition since/if Islam allows lenience (for adultery) in case of total heart felt repentance to Allah why is it the courts do take that option and leave the rest to God Allah knows best

Asslam-o-Alaikum. Where did you hear that adulterer men are not to be stoned to death in Islam?? I will explain it to you. In Islam if any bachelor man or woman commits adultery s/he is to be given 100 lashes each as a punishment. But if a married man or woman commit adultery he will be stoned to death. If the man is married, he will be stoned to death. If the woman is married then she will be stoned to death. If both are are married, they both will be stoned to death. The law is equal for both man and woman in Islam. There is no discrimination. If such an injustice is happening somewhere then it is against Islam.

Don't.
Leave her to Allah
Let Allah judge her, not you. Stay patient and you could always advice her, remind her of Allah.
I think it is best to help her, not hurt her!
Allah knows best!
These nonMuslims don't even know Islam, they have wrong information and think in Islam women are weaker than men which is false. its a bad idea about Islam made by those who hate Islam and some Muslims who had mixed their old bad cultures with Islam orders. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
"Assuredly, women are the twin halves of men."
in İslam which one is the closest to God ,is stronger, man or woman
So in İslam everybody equal ... free your mind,Research İslam , read (Quran) and decide yourself :)

Adultery: When a married person man or woman have sex with someone who is not their spouse
Fornication: When an unmarried person have sex with someone.
Punishment for adultery for both men and women is stoning to death
Punishment of fornication for both men and women is 100 flogs
Do not make up lies in the name of Islam.

The punishment is the same for both.
"2. The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication,- flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment.
3. Let no man guilty of adultery or fornication marry and but a woman similarly guilty, or an Unbeliever: nor let any but such a man or an Unbeliever marry such a woman: to the Believers such a thing is forbidden.
4. And those who launch a charge against chaste women, and produce not four witnesses (to support their allegations),- flog them with eighty stripes; and reject their evidence ever after: for such men are wicked transgressors;-
5. Unless they repent thereafter and mend (their conduct); for Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful.
6. And for those who launch a charge against their spouses, and have (in support) no evidence but their own,- their solitary evidence (can be received) if they bear witness four times (with an oath) by Allah that they are solemnly telling the truth;
7. And the fifth (oath) (should be) that they solemnly invoke the curse of Allah on themselves if they tell a lie.
8. But it would avert the punishment from the wife, if she bears witness four times (with an oath) By Allah, that (her husband) is telling a lie;
9. And the fifth (oath) should be that she solemnly invokes the wrath of Allah on herself if (her accuser) is telling the truth.
10. If it were not for Allah.s grace and mercy on you, and that Allah is Oft- Returning, full of Wisdom,- (Ye would be ruined indeed). ""(24:2-10)
Whenever it proves that a person has committed Zina (adultery/fornication) then imposing Hadd punishment on him becomes compulsory as legislated in Shariah. The legal punishment is as following:
If the free person indulging in illegal sex is married then he/she should be stoned till death. There is no difference between the man and the woman in this rule. If the free person practicing illegal sex is unmarried then he/she should be flogged hundred stripes.
The slaves would be flogged only fifty stripes regardless of their being married or not. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {if they commit illegal sexual intercourse, their punishment is half that for free (unmarried) women.}[4:25].

Actually, like all other haters, you rely on the lies presented by non-Muslims without doing your own research. These idiots have no idea what they are talking about.
Had you done your own research, you would find that the punishment is the same for both men and women. You would also find that the act itself must have 4 witnesses otherwise a word can never be even said about it.
"The carrying out of the hadd punishment for a sin for which that punishment has been prescribed is an expiation for that sin.
Sincere repentance from sin is also an expiation for sin, and “the one who repents from sin is like the one who did not sin.” And Allaah will turn his bad deeds into good deeds.
If he is sincere in his repentance, and prays a great deal for forgiveness, then he does not have to confess so that the hadd punishment may be carried out on him. Rather repentance is sufficient, in sha Allaah." First link
"If you repent to Allah, you are no longer described as a fornicator (zaani)." Second Link
"Allaah also punishes the adulterers severely in this world, and has prescribed the hadd punishment for that. Allaah says concerning the unmarried person who commits zina:
“The fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allaah, if you believe in Allaah and the Last Day. And let a party of the believers witness their punishment”
[al-Noor 24:2 – interpretation of the meaning]
With regard to one who is married, the hadd punishment is execution. It says in a hadeeth narrated by Imam Muslim in his Saheeh (3199) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “For a married or previously-married person the punishment is one hundred lashes and stoning.”
Third Link (as you can see, the punishment is the same for both men and women. Anyone doing otherwise is not following Sharia)
"This is only if the sexual organs of the fornicator penetrate the vagina of the woman. Whatever is similar deserves a different punishment, depending on the level of the haram committed. It is not obligatory that he admit to a judge what he did. It is sufficient that repentance take place between him and Allah, and Allah is the Acceptor of repentance and the Most Merciful. We ask Allah to forgive us and the rest of the Muslims." Fourth Link
As you can see, God is merciful.

SAME thing. However, in order to prove that a man OR a woman have committed adultry there must be 4 (count 'em!), four, witnesses that have SEEN them in the actual act. Pretty hard to prove wouldn't you say? Of course if a woman or a man comes up to the leader of their tribe, or whatever the case may be, and totally admits out in the open then the case is different because they are confessing.

There is no such punishment in islam according to Quran. it is all because of some corrupt hadith. so no question of men and women arises.
in Quran God explained the punishment very clearly in chapter 24:2 The adulteress and the adulterer - flog each one of them with a hundred stripes. And let not pity for the twain take hold of you in executing the judgment of ALLAH, if you believe in ALLAH and the Last Day. And let a party of the believers witness their punishment.
hope ur mind is now clear about islam

My dear, the punishment of adultery is applied to both the man and the woman. Not only that but there has to be four witnesses that catches the couple IN THE ACT...can you imagine how hard that would be. You need to have four witnesses that actually saw the couple committing adultery in order for them to be stoned. Otherwise, you cant even accuse them.
This shows that the goal of Allah's punishments are not for us to be tortured for our mistakes (since it is almost impossible to find four witnesses and therefore difficult for such a stoning event to be carried out), but rather these punishments of Sharia law are there for PREVENTION. It puts the fear in Allah's slaves to commit such acts because of the harsh punishmnets, so they most likely sustain themselves from committing them. You rarely see stoning happen because first of all the punishment prevents most people from committing the act, and second of all even if adultery was carried out you need 4 witnesses, and third of all even if you have 4 witnesses and the couple truely repents then they are free from punishment.
The main goal of Sharia Law's punishments is to prevent sin in the first place and it works well. Allah knows best~

they must be killed in the bible too....................or you are too blind to see....
Deuteronomy 22:22 "If a man is found sleeping with another man's wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die."
Leviticus 20:10 "If a man commits adultery with another man's wife--with the wife of his neighbor--both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death."
Proverbs 6:32 "But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys himself." He destroys himself by being put to death as shown above.
Leviticus 21:9 "And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire." Why should only a daughter of a priest gets burnt to death if she profanes herself? Why can't this law apply to all daughters?

There are blackships among the followers of every religion...Female Foeticide, Dowry deaths, mercy killing, sati pratha and many more are Blackships of Hinduism...Likewise, Wine drinking, pork eating & Rapes or Illegal relations are common in Christian society .... but it never means that, this is the fault of religions... In the same way Malpractices has nothing to do with Islam....Islam is a way to life & solution to every problem So better read Quran to know it correctly than to criticise it without knowing about it even a least.
