Why are atheists in the Religion & Spirituality section?
I have seen this question many times.
If all the atheists left Religion & Spirituality don't you think this site would be boring ?
I would hate to see them leave.

I see your point, and believe that they have a right to be here as much as anyone else. I do wish they would stop being as rude as many of them are. Also, if I ask a questing that requires a Christian frame of reference, an atheist has no business answering. For this reason, I believe that the this category should be broken up into subcategories for each of the main religions, or lack there of.

Yes, it is a shallow and silly question. As an open forum, what one personally believes is not a valid reason for expulsion. Many are atheists because of the lies taught them by religion and they found it out. Also, there are far more hateful and vicious so-called christians on R&S than there are atheists.
So don't leave atheists, you can ask some deep questions and I promise you most of what you know about religion has nothing to do with the Bible. I would rather talk to a rational atheist than an arrogant and ignorant person calling themselves christian any day.

*drink* That sounds like a thinly veiled 'why do I come here?' question. This gets asked so often I prepared a list… 1. *drink* 2. Cos we can. 3. For teh LuLz. 4. A-theism is NOT a religion but it IS a valid religious position. 5. Who else would answer all the questions aimed at atheists? 6. Coming here, always makes me feel smarter-saner than I really am. 7. Kid, if you and your people didn't go to such extraordinary lengths to try to convince me and my people that all that imaginary little space chappie stuff wasn't any more than primitive superstition, you and your people would probably never hear from me and my people. 8. AND, cheap points are nothing to scoff at, huh? 9. The cats banned us from their section... cos we aren't cats(get it?). 10. I'm thinking... hang on a mo'. 11. I find religion totally fascinating… 12. I find the followers even more so. 13. AND their leaders… well no one does boolshit quite like Benny and the gang. 14. Religion permeates all of our lives whether we like it or not. 15. Oh, and how about ‘know thy enemy’? 16. Cos religion is the enemy of reason – it’s not harmless, innocent, blameless, sunshine and goodness – we can NOT ignore atrocities committed daily in the name of invisible sky guys. ~

Well, those atheist people do have the right to come in Religion and Spirituality section because Matthew 24:14 And the good news I have shared about God's kingdom will be told throughout the world. It will be spread to every nation. Then the end will come.
And Atheist people sure are smart because they can read.

We're here to answer questions directed at us, to counter obvious logical fallacies and (hopefully) force theists to think, at least a little. And to discuss religion. That's what the section is for, after all.
And if all atheists left R&S, it would turn into nothing but a circle-jerk, where theists stroke each other endlessly to support their delusions. God help us all if that were to happen. (pun intended) There are already enough sites like that. We don't need another one.

So would I! They add a bit of spice and - who knows but that a few of them might have their eyes opened to the significance of Jesus by interacting here? Atheists have been converted to Christ, you know! It's thrilling when it happens. I knew two people where I worked who were both atheists, but then God made himself 'known' to them, personally. They are now committed Christians. Isn't that wonderful?
However, it appears that the majority are just out to make sport of believers. My theory is that, because they cannot 'get' at God, they try to get at his supporters on earth. They are just so boiling mad at the claims of God and his authority over them, they turn on believers, to attack them or the Bible, imagining that if they can mock them sufficiently, they will have proven that God does not exist. "See? No fire came down from heaven when I blasphemed against the Holy Spirit! Na na na-na na!"
More than hating to see them leave this site, I would hate to see them rendered speechless on the Day of Judgement.

It's perfectly logical. Atheists are here because they have strong opinions about God, religion, and spirituality.

Atheists are here because they obviously are curious about God. They are holding onto that God doesn't exist, and by checking this category they're hoping to some day find a good argument to start believing in God. However, I'm a Christian and I would like to say that you could start reading in the Bible dear Atheist (not talking to you buddy, I don't know which religion you're in) or whoever that is reading this.
God bless you all Atheists. God loves you whether you like it or not.
I'm proud to call myself a Christian.

Don't chuck us off! There's anarchists in the government section, omnivores in the vegetarian section and masculists in the feminist section- if we have to go then so do they :D
