What is the purpose of this?

it was the overwhelming majority that atheism is not a religion, in fact at the posting of this question, it was 15 of 21.
So if it is safe to say atheism is not a religion, why are so many questions concerning, and aimed specifically to atheists in the religion section?
Do you think atheism has the rights to it's own section in Y!A?
Do you think this will make a difference?

15 whole people assert that atheism is not a religion...how many answers were reported or thumbs downed, i wonder....
sure, i think you should get your own section in YA...everyone will go there exactly once to say that they don't believe in God....then the crickets will chirp for the rest of the evening...
scintillating conversation..."i don't believe in God"..."whoa, me neither"....lol...
just stay here where it's warm and everybody knows your name and let's you be an @sshole now and then...

Oh what ignorance!! You seem totally ignorant of what an atheist is!!
ATHEIST - someone who does not believe in a God – any God – not just the Christian one. But that does not mean they do not hold strong moral or religious beliefs! They can follow any religion that does not have a god and there are a lot of those!!
Like BUDDHISM – Religious teaching from Buddha and his followers that by destroying greed, hatred and delusion (the cause of all suffering) man can attain perfect enlightenment!!
Where do you think christianity got it's ideas of a soul and afterlife from for goodness sake?
They stole it from the pagan tribes and peoples which existed hundreds and thousands of years before christianity!!
From the stone age through vikings, Egyptians, Maoris, Aborigines, American Indians and especially the chinese, they all had elaborate funerals and grave goods to speed the soul into the next life with comfort!!
Add christians and muslims together and they amount to just under a third of the world population the majority of the rest is made up of atheists and religions without gods!! So they are in the majority here!!!

Because atheism may be the lack of religion, so to speak, but it is intrinsically connected to religions as they both deal with an examination of supernatural claims.

Well if you wanna get technical religion and spirituality are the same thing as mythology and folklore. its all just a bunch of nonsense explaining sh!t our ancestors did not understand
