Julie Powell 9/11 comments.?
I just finished watching Julie and Julia (the film) and am now entertaining myself by reading feedback, not only on the movie, but on Julie Powell's book.
I haven't read it myself, so I'm very much wondering... Many, many people seem to have a lot to say in regards to what Julie Powell said concerning 9/11, how she disrespected the entire event/grieving families, etc.
So [as I sad] I'm very much wondering, since I can't seem to find it online,...
what exactly did she say in her book in regards to 9/11 that offended people so badly?

She basically called the 9/11 victims "whiners", as some people have said.
But not directly put that way. YOu have to understand where this woman is coming from, she worked in a office where her job was receiving phone calls from victims of 9/11 (and victim is a very broad term, it could be from people who lost someone, all the way to people who complained of dirty windows.) She basically said, that amidst all the turmoil, most of the callers only thought about themselves. She would have to listen to people cry, yell and even insult her because they wanted someone to suffer just as much as they were suffering.
To me, people love to take advantage of such a tragic situation, and use it to fuel their own selfish agenda.
But she doesn't think anything along the lines of "the victims being terrible people".
I respect her outlook, and think that when people become hurt and offended, simply need to build a bridge and-- well you know the rest.
