my 8 week old is suddenly rejecting her bottle?

she's been having a bottle from her dad (of expressed milk) since 4 weeks old. this has been at least once a week sometimes slightly more.

until 2 days ago she was happily taking 100 mls breastmilk before bed, from a bottle.

last night and tonight she just cries with it in her mouth & wont latch onto it.... very strange as was fine on tuesday night!

we have tried various teets she wont take any...

Update:

obviously she is breastfed the rest of the time and of course i will breastfeed her tonight instead but i am wondering what would make a baby stop taking a bottle they were happy to take for the last 4 weeks with no trouble, and what can be done to get her back on the bottles? we were actually hoping to introduce a second expressed feed sometime soon (at 12 weeks) so it is odd to be going backwards..... please advise.

no more stupid answers like "put her on your breast" please.

Hello Katharine! Congratulations on the baby...she's beautiful! :)

My daughter breastfeeds and she takes a bottle during the day when my mom babysits her while I work. Sometimes she prefers one over the other. For no reason that I can come up with! Just keep offering her the bottle and she will take it again. I think sometimes when they're offered a bottle and they reject is because they want to feel close and seek comfort from the breast :)

Maybe its time for the next size teet? I was bottle and breastfeeding when I had a damaged nipple and tried a differnt teet size ( not actual size that is different but number of holes in end of teet) maybe she is ready to move up to a 2 hole teet and maybe she is rejecting the one now coz its too hard work to get the milk out? Just a thought.

Or maybe she is just going through a stage where she wants to be as close as possible to mum during feeds and needs a wee break from the bottle.

You could try switching the bottle feed to the morning feed for a while coz this is usually when they are hungriest and then gradually go back to offering it to her at night so Dad can feed her.

    Good luck :)
