6.0 Powerstroke...worst diesel ever? witnessed explosion today...?
This happened to me today and it was so funny I just have to share it. There's a guy in town, I've seen him before. It's a jacked up F250, 4 inch lift, light bar on the roof, stacks, this guy thinks he's hot s***. He drives laying down with one hand propped on top of the steering wheel with his rap blaring. Well, I met him at the redlight today. It sounded like it was about to fall apart. He has "6.0" on the back glass next to Calvin taking a leak on the words CUMMINS and DURAMAX. I revved up my big block just to mess with him, and when the light turned green he took off. He got about ten feet when BOOM!!! BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG backfire out the stacks and horrible, God-awful noises. I turned on my PA system and rode by, cackling like an idiot. I almost ran over an old man because I was just cracking up. It made me wonder, is there a more crappy-built motor you've ever encountered? In your opinion, how bad is the 6.0? Anyone else had an experience like this? Please share!

When GM first got diesel car & truck business they had one that was a total piece of CRAP! It set the diesel idea back at least 10 years.
I remember a long time age I had a Ford step van with a 300 cubic inch straight 6 & truck 4 speed. It was an old bread delivery step van. I was pulling a 21 ft. trailer up the mountains between Bakersfield & Barstow Ca. It had tons of torque but no top speed (maybe 75) I passed a Chevy pickup going uphill. He had printed on the side of the fender the size of the motor, fuel injected, 4 speed auto, diesel etc. just a lot of things as he was very proud of his new toy. When we reached the top & started down hill here he came really getting it on! He gave me that smirk that said "I showed you didn't I" ha ha Guess what? the next hill I passed him going up. The same thing happened on every hill. He had more top end speed but NO POWER going up. It was embarrassing for my old junker to be ahead going up the hill for him with his NEW truck, of course it didn't help that I was laughing like crazy every time I passed him LOL

Sounds like the turbo blew. If so then he had the engine built right....otherwise the head gasket would have blown first. Now the cab has to come off. Blowing a turbo is common in any highly modified diesel. Sounds like he just had the stock turbo on there though. When built right....the 6.0's are very quick off the line because of the smaller....variable geometry...turbo. Probablly one of the worst stock diesels by design.
But that would be funny

I am a ford guy and i even have to say there garbage. and ford even released a statement that the 6.0 is the biggest POS they ever made thats why the 6.4 was released 2 years after the 6.0. There was something like 3 out of every 5 6.0's had serious issues from turbos to different pumps.

i seen a turbo explode on one before, that may have been what happened to that one,i know a guy who was running a programmer on one and for some reason the fuel loaded up on it and it literally blew the turbo off it,at the time it was funny until the truck almost hit me from him not being able to see for the smoke rising from it,one thing i haven't ever seen a dodge do is blow a turbo off it,good luck.
