First off.... PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!!
Second.....get a singing coach if you can
Third.....sing in front of friends and family...(maybe try out for school play to be more comfortable with people)
Fourth... watch videos of singers and pick your style
Fifth....Once again Keep PRACTICING!!!!
Just some advice.....not exactly in order sorry = )

Start small and work your way up. If you haven't already, join your school's choir. Find some extracurricular singing group that you can join. Once you get comfortable singing in a group you can just keep getting smaller and smaller and then eventually a solo will feel like no big deal at all!
Here are some good tips
1) Voice Lessons! - Start taking some. They are extremely helpful and that way you can get some one on one work done. It may be a bit scary at first, but don't worry, after a while it will feel like you're singing to just yourself.
2) Practice - The more singing you can fit into your life, the better. Any practice you can get is beneficial.
3) Get over your fear! - I know, it's much easier said than done. I used to be terrified of singing in front of people, but I realized that if I wanted to become a famous singer/actress someday, that I would have to get over that fear, so I started auditioning for solos in middle school choir and worked my way up. Now I've been getting leads in my school musicals (I'm a sophomore this year), I got into my school's top notch singing group, and I just booked my third paid gig with my friend singing at a Dunn Bros coffee shop! I know just pushing the fear aside can be difficult, but if you want to make it someday then you're going to have to push the fear away no matter how hard it may be.
4) Learn an instrument - Pick something that you can play under your singing, piano or guitar are generally the best two back up instruments. Invest in some lessons. You're still young and have plenty of time to work on your skills. A voice is nice, but if you have something to back it you're another step ahead of your competition.
5) Get an Agent / Start looking for work - An agent will help you find jobs once you've gotten over your stage fright and have learned to play an instrument. Look for work on your own too. I don't have an agent at the moment and I've just booked these past few gigs by chance. My friend and I were playing in a town nearby and someone came up to us and asked us if we'd play at their store. You never know who you may meet just playing around!
Good luck to you and have fun!

Well, I know you won't love to hear this but try singing in an ensemble first. i sang in a choir that traveled the world. I got good training too. Then with that training you could record demos and send them into companys and go to auditioins. I always wanted to be a GREAT singer but you have to start small and get bigger.
For the shy issue, just sing try singing for a few close friends then once you've gained that sing a solo in a school choir then join a talent show and it will go away eventually.
hope this helps!

i am 14 but i have had that dream since i was little.
take lessons!
taking lessons will improve your voice, sometimes even repair it and getting advise from experts is really good as well but lessons are really pricey .
drink lots of water
i drink 3- 4 bottles a day it really does help a lot
don't over work your voice!
just a little bit ago i strained my voice . it feels like somethings closing in your throat and its all tight so stop singing when it does that. remember to warm up ! go on youtube to find warm up exercises
also make youtube videos if your good people will let you know but it takes time

bypass on google and look up auditions for musicals. that's the place you need to initiate. the suitable is hollywood.auditions! be careful however. are not getting caught up in all of the errors extra stars do. Then, when you play in a musical or small section in a play. human beings will notice you. get entangled in something to do with performing or making a song. that is how I did it. wish I helped. in case you ever choose extra help in this. inquire from me.

hey, i know how you feel about being shy. im in a band and when we play on stage i still get butterflies in my stomach. but when your on stage you have to learn to have fun with it. me and the other guys in my band play around on stage, and that helps me feel better when i sing. or, if your going solo, you could, and im being serious, imagine everyone in their underwear. heh, it worked for me. so just have fun with it and dont worry to much
