Where can I find a reasonably priced small chest of drawers for a new born baby?
I am trying to get a nursery in order for the arrival of my first ever little one in December of this year but I am quite a novice! The cost of the slim-line chest of drawers in Mothercare was £200, and I can't quite stretch to that. Any ideas of reasonable shops for this kind of thing in the UK? Thanks to all who answer x

Honestly right now, I think a chest of drawers is a waste of money. If you haven't already bought one, I would buy a changing table with shelves underneath it (most come with this anyway). Baby cloths are so small that they don't take up a lot of space, so this type of storage is plenty. I would wait to buy a chest of drawers until your baby is a toddler, and you are rearranging his room with an actual bed and such. Good luck :)

Right now, I just have a set of plastic drawers on wheels. I got it at Walmart for $9. It is a tan color, which matches his crib. I like it because it's light weight and I can roll in around. I move it from the room to the closet depending on how the room is arranged. It's also easy to move around to vacuum.
When he gets a little older, I'll get him a dresser, but this works great for now.

Have you tried an unfinished furniture store? Buying used and refinishing yourself? Also, consider those auction houses. They often sell estates and plain furniture can be purchased for quite low prices.
Focus on buying REGULAR furniture. Something you will be using in 10 years, rather than 'infant' furniture which usually has a limited lifespan.

You have to go to a cheap local furniture store that sells fiberboard furniture. Shouldn't cost you more than $40 bucks.

check garage sales, or scan your facebook for friends with something that they want to get rid of, a lot of towns also have facebook 'buy and sell' pages where you can pick up second hand stuff, generally in great condition.
