How can I be fashionable at school without looking wierd?
I'm about to be a sophomore in high school and over the summer my eye for fashion has expanded insanely. I'm into the retro hippie chic look, if that makes any sense. If not just look at this website if you don't get it: http://www.chictopia.com/
Anyway, as you can see most of the outfits are a little extreme for school but I want to know how I can keep my style without looking like a total idiot. Yes, I'm one of those people who care what people think most of the time, so don't say that I shouldn't worry about it, but I do like to be unique so don't say that I should just dress like everyone else.

OK, first of all, I have to say those outfits are some of THE coolest ones I've seen in ages. I just love them, and I would probably have no problem wearing those to school. However, I understand what it's like to want to fit in clothes-wise.
Anyway, I think these outfits would be fine to wear as they are, you wouldn't need to feel self-conscious at all:

As long as you're not obese, those outfits should be fine.
However, I understand that some of the brighter outfits might cause you to feel a little awkward. In that case, just tone them down with taste. I can see that the whole outfit with the striped shirt and the red beret might look a little weird. I would take away the hat but leave in the belt there. I'd also wear little makeup, just so I didn't look like a clown or like I was trying to act like a model. I'd spend some time on my hair, though.
Sorry, I'm rambling a bit. But anyway, I think it's fabulous that you've started to like fashion, welcome over to the dark side!:D I love those outfits, but I recommend you tone them down by swapping around accessories for something more neutral or just taking them away. You can keep the essential outfit, but try not to look costume-y.
Good luck!:))

First of all, never ever say "retro hippie chic" ever again because hippies were neither chic nor retro.
I mean, unless you're going to school wearing a saran wrap dress with eight inch Alexander McQueen hoof-heels and a pick-axe, I don't think are gonna be too shocked.
Whenever I start something new in my style, I ease into it. As in, say you want to start wearing high-heels to school. [Just an example.] Start by wearing pretty tame high-heels (smaller heels, or booties) then work your way up to higher heels, or more flashy ones.
People expect you to change over the summer, and the first day of school is the premiere moment to walk through the doors being all "Look how much better I got!" - go nuts.
I came to school one year (after having dark brown hair my whole life) as an Aryan blonde and everyone's jaw dropped. It was fun : )

mkay, so i'd say dress the way you want to. style is an expression of who you are. look at lady gaga, at first people said she was weird but now all the artists are trying to be just like her. go for the crazy outfits! wear what you want and don't worry about what others think

Yeah i might ought to accept as true with the different shoppers. you do no longer bypass to strict boarding faculties to income a thank you to look well known. in case you fee your education and attractiveness then i does no longer bypass around breaking uniform/costume code rules; using fact those varieties of places are many times no longer lenient on those that do.

If you are confident in what you are wearing then people wont judge you on it. Try wearing a shirt of your style with skinny jeans, so add one interesting element and one more mainstream piece.

You can't do boho if you care what everyone else thinks. They have small minds.
