People only gets a cost of living increase when the cost of living increases.

And since that didn't happen, this is why you didn't get one.

You can vote "every one out" and you still won't get a cost of living if it isn't warranted.

How can you get a cost of living increase when the cost of living did not increase. It actually went down. How about the government take money from you. Stop your whining and tighten your belt. There are many Americans on tough times now. Seniors are no better and certainly do not deserve any special treatment.

    How about "o-u-r C.O.L.A."

    (Cost Of Living Adjustment)?

You don't get the 'adjustment' if the cost of living didn't increase.

It's got NOTHING to do with incumbents.

Congress gets an automatic 1.9% rise, even if there is no C.O.L.A.; this year, because of the economy and so as not to be "too" out-of-step with their fellow Americans, Congress voted NOT to accept their usual automatic COLA.

    Chill out, Studley.

Source(s): . And to the uninformed: LOTS of people get the COLA, it is NOT just "an old folks' thing." .

Social Security can not just be abandoned. It has to be replaced with a better plan. The way to halt SS is to reduce contributions and halt eligibility while making 401K or a similar program the way to retirement. No party that is totally eliminating SS can expect any votes from any retiree or soon to be retiree. They are owed.

That's a thought, but what about all those Republicans who are now trying to whitewash their stands that they want to get rid of Social Security altogether like, oh, Sharon Angle.

If deflation continues, you will likely not get a "cost of living increase" because the cost of living is not increasing.
