As an Agnostic, is it wrong to think that religion shouldn't be destroyed?

However, I do believe that the question of a God is too great for mankind to answer. Am I contradicting myself by thinking this way?

Even as an atheist I don't think that religion should be "destroyed". I just think people should be encouraged to use their own common sense and reasoning - this will eventually render religion obsolete. But religion will never disappear - superstition is a part of human nature.

The question of a god is of course not "too great" to answer. "God" is a logically impossible concept. You just need some logic to disprove it.

That is the definition of being an agnostic. You are impartial, not believing in god but respecting those who choose to. An atheist is more likely to want an end to a religion, but an agnostic simply doesn't believe either way.

No, that isn't wrong at all. Being an Agnostic means thinking that no one can "know" whether or not God exists or not. Not even Christians "know" whether or not God exists. The same can be said for Atheists. Religion is based off of faith and beliefs... people choose to have faith in whatever they want to have faith in.

You agnostics can never make up your mind on anything, can you? j/k

I think some religions (and some philosophies) should be destroyed, but I'm not going to be the one to do it, I just hope they eventually fade away. "destroyed" is probably too strong of a word.

I think God has revealed himself somewhat, but not entirely. We can know and perceive some things about God, but not everything, we're too limited to comprehend the unlimited and eternal. Any explanation we have is but a shadow (like shapes and figures that can be barely made out) of God, it will fall short of the real thing.

As an agnostic, you are a coward. You either do or dont believe in a god.

  • Is god willing to eliminate evil but not able?

    Then he is not omnipotent.

Is he able, but not willing?

    Then he is malevolent.

Is he both willing and able?

    Then why is there evil?

Is he neither willing nor able?

    Then why call it god?
