Why would a person join a social network, create a community, and have no email, nor im?
Does anyone realize how awesome this "answers" system really is, as an idea, and a reality? Does anyone realize, they can get to ever yahoo function from here? From now on, i will only add people with contact turned on, into my network.

This site is awesome, and yes you can get access to most of the other Yahoo! functions through the Answers part of the site, but Answers isn't really designed to be a social networking site (have you looked at the Community Guidelines?) Though with this new 'Pulse' thing it does encourage social networking.
I guess some people just like to come on the site to ask or answer questions and don't always want the hassle of fans/contacts/emails etc. And I don't really think there is really anything wrong if people have their email or IM turned off as long as they give good answers to questions.

First, this is NOT a social network. Yahoo PULSE is a social network. This site is only meant to be a question and answer site. We have the right of privacy here, and due to stalking, many people choose to exercise that right. Others don't, but we all should respect those who do.
