gypsies and the law.?

Blind apathy is why the travellers get away with most things but it isn't exclusive to them alone, if the police were to do a sweep on all immigrant taxi drivers in London or Sheffield you could be sure the majority aren't even licensed to drive never mind licensed to drive a taxi. Racial profiling is legal but discouraged. Councils will take the travellers up on anything they can do them for, squatting and fly tipping so travellers aren't really that immune from the law as long as there is concrete proof. I'm astounded anyone is allowed to drive that can't read or write. Too many travellers have sidled up to me in the supermarket and asked "how much is dem tings der?" when its clearly printed on the packaging. If they can't read numbers and basic words then what the hell are they doing getting behind the wheel of a 2 ton 4x4? and the same goes for illegal immigrant taxi drivers, can't speak a word of English but they get a slap on the wrist for what could be conspiracy to murder. A car or a van is a lethal weapon the same as a loaded firearm in the wrong hands.

The police have difficulties dealing with any person who has "no fixed abode". In the UK, a citizen does not in law have to have a "registered address", like a company or organisation has to.

Thus in the Travelling Community (mainly of Irish Extraction, not Romany Gypsies) the problem the police have, is how locate and to prosecute folk who have an essentially itinerant lifestyle.

The solution of cars/vans with no tax disc is to scrap the disc and put the cost onto petrol.diesel so all pay. The problem of uninsured cars is much more widespread, especially with younger drivers for whom the cost is prohibitive.

There has been a big crackdown around here recently and there have been allot of vehicle seizures of gypo vans/4x4s for no tax and insurance. Pity it doesn't happen everywhere to get them off the roads.

I don't really know why your having a problem with them, if you complain enough about it, do they have more rights then anyone else? get picture of them in violation and show to Mayor or counsel and ask whats going on? You an arrest and stop everyone except them, that is not justice it is preferential treatment.

police are **** scared of them .. Local site is full of nicked cars and things ,, Police will only go there mob handed . and never nick anyone ,,As much as say boo to them and a big case of human rights etc, Cost the Police milliions in compo under European law to be seen to be persecuting , or racialist towards them so the police just back off .

They ARE the law.
