do you think less of people who type like they're stupid?
when people refuse to spell words and speak like they're from the ghetto and have no education or the ability to formulate a sentence, OR they are unable to comprehend a question and try an answer which is completely irrelevant do you instantly get annoyed and think less of them? do you picture a lazy grade school drop out (because 5th graders speak more intelligently) sitting at home getting high and wondering who they can beat the crap out of and rob? or a ghetto punk drug dealer who thinks it's cool to create they're own language and meanings to words..( "so.... where you at?" which apparently meant how are you)
do you instantly get irritated by stupidity or at least the appearance of it?
the word "ghetto" does NOT refer to a skin color. anyone can be ghetto. a ghetto person is an ignorant violent person with no education and doesn't want one.
i know it's "their" not "they're" I took it upon myself to change the meaning
Zee... read the question again.

Yes, I am even saddened by the fact that businesses now are finding it acceptable to use text-like spelling on commercials and signs now. I do think less of people, because that is how they choose to put themselves out there in the world so I take it at face value. I make the occasional spelling mistake, we all do, but if they are going to not even make an attempt to get 99% of their spelling right, or use proper grammar even then why should I take them seriously? This whole text-type trend is really annoying and it does need to stop, why should I have to spell things phonetically just because people out in the public decided not to pay attention in school.
I know "Ghetto" isn't a skin color, neither is the N-word. The reason they started calling slaves the N-word is cause it meant "uneducated", so therefore anyone who spells like they are uneducated is putting themselves out there as a N-word. A person of any race can be uneducated,So start writing like you actually care about yourself and people won't mistake you for an N-word, I promise.

I think people should stop dragging the english language in the mud and start learning how to spell things out correctly. What is the point of all our years of English and Language Arts and Lit. Groups and book reports and the like if kids are deciding not to use those skills in real life? It saddens me that people think that writing "ppl" and "plz" in a rough draft or WORSE a final draft to turn in to a teacher will be taken seriously as an adult. I never use text speak and even if I were to, it'd only be LOL OMG or BRB, but that's kinda rare...

No it's they're from the Ghetto, not their...
their is a form of someones possession whether be physical or intellectual
they're aka they are XYZ,
you cannot own a place, certaintly not the ghetto, so music note Girl is wrong your right.
Source(s): Oh I see, well music Girl should be more specific. - Anonymous1 decade ago
You were right the first time. It's 'they're', which is the abbreviation for 'they are'. The word 'their' applies when administering ownership. ie ''Their questions were stupid''
..But back to topic, the answer is yes. If people cannot be bothered to even spell correctly, then I have very little time for them. There's a difference between someone who simple isn't very bright, and someone who is being 'street'. I have time for someone who isn't very bright, that's just part of life's rich tapestry, but someone who is being 'street' has taught themselves to behave like that. They do it deliberately. It makes a mockery of those of us who wish to use our brains and communicate to the fullest of our abilities.

It really depends, some people like short cuts but are smart, but they by into it since it's what all the teens are doing.
But I try to avoid it. Usually it says they like to text and socialize way too much and don't take things seriously.
But if it's a stranger and they type like they are bashing the computer, yes.. I try to avoid them and I think lower of them.
I notice girls who like Justin Bieber or horrible music type like that too.

No...
The way people type shouldnt be judged by what they are like.
But they do look like they have not been to school.
So sometimes its best to write in full sentences, with the correct spellings.
Instead of looking un educated.

Yes yes yes!
My friends do that ALL the time and it gets really annoying. I can hardly understand them!
Of course, it could just be that I'm an honors student and some of them are not. Yano, just my intuition kicking in.
