Another adoption article?

Id love to hear your opinions on this.

http://www.showbizspy.com/article/208586/sheryl-cr...

SHERYL Crow has angrily denied claims she adopted her sons to boost her career — insisting it isn’t worth the hassle.

The sexy singer adopted son Wyatt in 2007 and brother Levi last month and is adamant the adoption process is long and emotional — not a quick and easy PR stunt.

“I don’t usually read what people blog about me but I’ve read some beautiful things about me and adoption and some hateful things,” she said.

“I think people don’t understand — it’s not like you can go to some outlet and pick up a baby because you’ve got a record to promote.

“An adoptive mother goes through more hoops than those people who thoughtlessly become pregnant.

“I had about 10 adoptions fall through last year, so there was a real sense of relief when he (Levi) was mine. It’s a long process and it’s fraught with uncertainty.

“Another person is carrying a baby and when that baby finally arrives their feelings may have changed.”

I just hate hearing the whole "Adoptions that fell through" stuff. For every adoption that falls through, a family is kept intact. How can this be a bad thing? I mean, those babies were meant to stay in their own families. Sure, the potential adoptive parents might be disappointed, but isn't adoption there to provide children in need? The less children in need, the better. At least one would think.

As far as the "hoops"... Getting pregnant when you don't expect to can sure cause some hoop jumping. That really irks me too.

ETA: And the "thoughtlessly" thing really pisses me off. There is a difference between getting pregnant unexpectedly and thoughtlessly. That is really dismissive of the first mother, and that is just wrong.

Sorry, i don't keep up with "stars" because i really just don't care. But has she ever actually been pregnant and delivered a baby? From google that looks like a big fat no, so how can she honestly say

"An adoptive mother goes through more hoops than those people who thoughtlessly become pregnant."

Your entire body changes. You have mood swings like they are going out of style. Towards the end i would cycle through anger, sadness and happiness every 30 minute. I almost went crazy from it! Not to mention back pain, tail bone pain, round ligament pain, all day sickness, peeing every 15 mins, going to the doctor at least 20 times. Oh and don't forget the deliver which can kill you. They may have "thoughtlessly become pregnant" but continuing a pregnancy is no walk in the park! Yeah, some one needs to slap that witch...

I also love how she says an expecting mother is "another person." Its just like she need to distant herself from the thought that this person is a mother and may do one of the most natural things and keep her baby...

Oh poor girl, she had 10 adoptions fall through. Let me cry a river. Of course, she could have done the decent thing and adopted from foster care where children need a home but nooooo gotta have that womb fresh baby.

At least this kid is white. I would defiantly think it was a PR stunt if not...

    Icky icky icky!

    Sigh.

I guess I'm not surprised. But the dynamics of private adoption set up this kind of ****. Two women pitted against each other, and one rooting for the other to give away their child...Of course this is the kind of thing that will come of it.

This would be precisely why I am generally opposed to private infant adoption. Did it never cross Sheryl's mind that there are a number of children in foster care who are waiting on homes? To be fair, foster care might not be a good option for most celebrities because of security issues, but I don't believe that should give them license to buy children. Childlessness IS an option.

Whatever. I have a lot of frustrations about celebrities adopting, and this article touched on a bunch of them. I'm just too exhausted to throw myself behind a really good rant right now. :-P

Those "people who thoughtlessly become pregnant" are the suppliers to women who establish a career first and find that they can't make their own family at 45 years old due to old age and/or several abortions along the way.

Hopefully Sheryl doesn't "hoop" her music career backwards in that thoughtless statement that shows little respect for the mother(s) who delivered her children. But then again, she was just a bar chick who got lucky. Fame doesn't buy one class.

I think her statement makes sense. There are a lot of people that should not be parents out there so yes adoptive parents go through hoops than those who get pregnant. When I placed my daughter with her adoptive parents the agency was very selective in screening and then I got to pick from those that made it through. So I would say yes there is more to an adoption than a PR stunt it takes time and is very emotional from both sides

And she's popular... that explains a lot about the way things are run in America. Kinda makes me a little worried about the future of children born here... sigh...

She sounds totally clueless... what an arrogant statement.

An adopted child or two or three or more - sure seems to be the latest accessory to sport if one is a celebrity trying to keep their name in the media.
