How do I install Belkin software on a linux (ubuntu) computer?

I bought a wirless USB adapter, and the software needs to be installed to get the wirless USB working. Well I have no idea how to do that on a linux computer. Is there any easy way to install it?

The Adapter is a Belkin Basic Wireless USB Adapter Model F7D1101 v1 .

Please Help!!

When I put the CD in an Icon apears in the top left screen and window comes up with the folling icons: Acrobat Reader, Auto Play, Installation File, User Manual, autorun, icon.ico, install.dll, KILLW16.EXE, setup.exe .

Update 3:

The CD will not include support for Linux. If you are using a generic kernel (i.e. one you did not build yourself; which seems unlikely giving you are asking this) you will probably have support for the device already if Linux supports it at all. I would plug the adapter in once it has booted and then type "dmesg" at a command prompt - any lines relating to the adapter should be right at the end of the listing. Reading those messages should give you an idea as to whether your kernel has the requisite support or not.

Update: your command prompt may be labeled "bash", "shell", "terminal", "xterm" or something like that. Open it up and type:

    dmesg <enter>

The output will be quite lengthy but you only need to copy and paste the last few lines here so we can see them.

Did you get a CD to do it with?

Most software/hardware is built for Windows or Mac.

Belkin might not support Linux operating systems and you may not find compatible software for Ubuntu.

    UPDATE

Ok, so try using the CD in the computer. See if it loads up, however there is a chance it may not, as it'll probably be an .exe file which ubuntu does not support.

Is there no chance you could get a copy of Windows? There are Windows 7 trials on the Microsoft website if you google it (lasts 90 days)

you shouldn't need to install any software, Ubuntu's pretty good at recognising hardware, have you tried plugging it in and seeing if it shows up in the network manager?
