For the first question yes. Very simply Hell is the state of the soul in which we suffer because we fully separated from God (except in that He keeps us in existence).
For the second question, Well no. As Christians we would say that if you would die now, not believing in God, that would be a grave sin. But whether or not you would go to Hell, we can't say for sure. To a Christian, to go to Hell because you did not believe in God you would also need full knowledge of the sin and full consent, or choice.
So no you are not in Hell, because you haven't died yet. You would still have the chance to turn you're life around and start believing in God.

Thank you for asking these questions. May I try to answer them?
You wrote, "so as i understand it you believe that hell is just being separated from god right?"
Answer: separation from God is only part of the doctrine of Hell. What did Jesus say about Hell? Anyone can find the answer in Luke 16, where Jesus tells of the rich man and a beggar named Lazarus. The rich man went to Hell, and he was separated from God, all right, but he was tormented in the flames (the words as quoted by Jesus). Hell, then, has at least two components: separation and suffering. If a person refuses to accept God's forgiveness, there is no other choice.
You next wrote, "so if i am an atheist does that mean that i am in hell right now according to you?"
Answer: no, you aren't in Hell yet as long as you are living on this earth. This of course is based on the Bible's doctrine of Hell.
Finally, you asked: "and if so then does that mean that you are also in hell since we can talk and interact?" Answer: those who have not died, have not gone to Hell. We're able to speak and write and communicate because we're alive. We don't have all the details about Hell--the Lord God didn't decide to give us too much, lest we mishandle the doctrine and reality of Hell. and nobody, not even God Himself wants anyone to go to Hell (see 2 Peter 3!)--and I for one hope nobody has to go to Hell to see what Hell consists of in the future. In other words, once someone goes to Hell, there is no way out. Jesus Christ spoke of it and His words are absolute truth. Would Jesus lie about something as serious as Hell?

"so as i understand it you believe that hell is just being separated from god right?"
I would add to your definition.
Hell, (the penalty for sin) is eternal separation from the presence of God (Who is the source of all virtue; goodness, love, peace, rest, comfort, joy, hope etc.)
"so if i am an atheist does that mean that i am in hell right now according to you?"
No. we are living in a dispensation of grace. The fact that you reject God does not mean that he is not present. You still have hope. You can still experience the goodness of God in this life because of God's merciful presence.
"and if so then does that mean that you are also in hell since we can talk and interact?"
Obviously not (as neither of us are in hell).

No. Because those who reject God are not completely separate from him yet. You still experience the blessings of God every day. Hell is life without any of the good, because all good is from God.

1. Yes, it is.
2. No. Even if you don't believe in God right now, a person is not judged until Christ's second coming. Moreover, we don't know who might be saved in the future. (Maybe you also). After the judgment is when you actually go to hell, and it will be the worst place imaginable.

The actual definition of hell is still a question. there are verses to confirm it is actually a lake of fire, other verses that it is separation from God. Nevertheless, even if you are in the lake of fire you will be separated from God. You are not actually "separated" from Him in that sense now. You still have the opportunity to believe so you are not in hell yet.

hell is eternal agony - part of which includes complete and utter separation from God
no, you are not in hell right now - because even if you reject God, he is working through you to accomplish his plan for his people in whatever way he sees fit, and he still wants you to be his own, even if you want nothing to do with him you may not be connected to God spiritually, but your time of grace is not yet over so you're not completely separated from him
and since people don't go to heaven or hell until they die, no... neither of us is in hell.

In hell, you will live in isolation and torment...no one to hear your cries. No...this is not hell.....we still have a chance to always call out to God

No we are on earth.....
Hell is where everyone who does not believe in the one and only Son of God and accepts his free gift of salvation will go.
Then they will be truly separated from God for eternity and go through eternal torture and misery
Hope this helps...
