What happened to the Royal pretender to the British Throne in Australia's Outback?

A couple of years ago, Tony Robinson, whils making a TV programme about Royalty discovered an interesting fact which had been overlooked. This fact meant that the true and rightful monarch in Great Britain was not actually the incumbent but a sheep farmer in rural Australia. What has happend about this since the TV show was made. Is the Queen aware of it?

Mr Michael Hastings is probably still farming in Jerilderie. He's a little media shy but there's a chance his number is listed in the White Pages, so you could give him a bell and ask.

"That makes me King Mike I," Hastings said. "But I wouldn't take it if they offered it to me. Look at the life the royals lead."

The 64-year-old is a real-life aristocrat, born the 14th Earl of Loudoun, who moved to Australia in 1960 in search of adventure.

"The family had the titles but we never had any money ," he said. "I never used the titles when I got over here, they'd have eaten me alive, it was bad enough being a Pom (British)."

I actually put a section in the Wikipedia article that traces all 22 "alternative monarchs" that were claimed in "Britain's real monarch". I think it is interesting.

"King Michael" is now remarried as he was a widower.

If Edward IV is illegitimate, then Michael Abner Hastings, 14 Earl of Loudon is indeed the final product using the present day rules of male-preference primogenture starting with William the Conqueror. But under British law you can't declare illegitimacy after someone is dead.

Also the Act of Succession passed in 1701 voided any other claim to the throne. Queen Elizabeth II is the product of this Act. She is not the "rightful heir" even following the Stuarts claim to the throne in 1603. That claim will eventually go to the young 24 year old boy who will inherit the throne of the tiny principality of Liechtenstein.

Anything that happened before the ACT is no longer legal without a new Act being passed by parliament.

Jeeez Barry fair suck of the sav you come up with some dongers don't cha. Tony Robinson aka Baldrick got it all backside up and down when he said that the incumbent monarch was a sheep farmer, what he meant to say was that the incumbent monarch was in fact a Merino Ram named Rooter but others loyal to the throne (not the long drop) threatened that they would invoke the long forgotten law of cutting off some delicate body parts if the story ever got out. In the meantime the families of note took over the reins of monarchy (could account for the horsey looks) and poor old Rooter was left to rule over his flock of 2000 ewes. He died of a dose of Woolumbroola worms in the late 1980's but left a progeny line as long as his ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,well it was a bewdy to say the least, Russel Coit who had a bit to do with the sheep was adamant that if Rooter hadn't have died back then he'd still be alive today,,,,,such a sad story but there ye go.

As far as I know he's still in the outback.

The programme was nonsensical in any case. The claim was that Edward IV was illegitimate, and therefor had no right the the throne. Edward IV's daughter Elizabeth married King henry VII of England. Henry VII's claim to the throne was based on his own descent from Edward III, via his mother Margaret Beaufort. So it was neither here nor there whether his wife's father was legitimate or not.

The whole programme was simply ridiculous.

The "rightful" monarch of Great Britain is whoever Parliament accepts it is, therefore whereas this man may have royal ancestry his is no more the rightful monarch than I am.

Yes indeed dear boy. I believe his name was Bruce. Apparently he met a very attractive sheila by the name of Francine whilst wandering through the bush one day. He took her for a date to the nearest billabong and they became absolutely smitten with each other. They acquired a few sheep and they now live quite happily. I believe he has been conferred with the title 'Duke of Erinsborough'. He currently lives in Summer Bay.

She is rather sheepish about it, stating that there will never be another ewe.
