Can anyone answer this question? What is the poetry section on Yahoo for?

It is an opportunity for the anonymous, and even some who aren't, to demonstrate their mental instability beyond any reasonable doubt. The poetry section is paradoxically peopled by those who cannot write or analyze poetry in large part, but hang around because they imagine they can. There's way too much reinforcement from their 'peers' for them to be bothered with learning to write a poem properly. It's a joke. When an academic question is asked, there are perhaps four people here who can answer it, and I'm one of them. More often that not, I won't be selected for best answer but the questioner, who doesn't know the difference, will choose someone who has written something that doesn't require a mental effort to understand. Once again, a joke! Are you seeing a pattern yet. I have seen you stalked by Barry lately, and there is no place for such torment here. I'm disappointed too.

YAP is a place to share poetry. Poetry is quite obviously different things for different people.

I'm very sorry to hear about you losing your young dog. If there really is a God, then I bet He has a special place in His heart just for dogs. Surely they have plenty of character and spirit to get them to heaven.

YAP is a great section.....sometime in the future we will all look back on this and laugh, maybe not now though. But you know, it's hilarious. Don't feel so left out Nancy, I'm probably the most disliked person in YAP. I'm the guy people don't want around, people try and ignore me.

But I'm like that little persistant dog who keeps barking, you won't shut me up or stop my rants.

Take some time out and chill.....after all, how many poets on here have threatened to leave already? Too many.

When I leave, I will just leave. I won't ask a question about it or make a big deal, because I doubt many people will give a sh*t.

I came here for social comment

and a listening ear

so often I read and hear, "Go away"

and yeah I will someday

For those who inanely chase, and curse

why not just go away

your offenses fall on my bilnd ear

and my deaf eye

and that don't help turn a sows ear

into a silk purse.

but in posting I have to relent

to egos and often abstract emotions

as we seem to float on an Ocean

of the An** retentive small communtity

with less to do than push buttons

that no longer respond.

that didn't speed up the process anyway.

You have to sift through the vitriol and drama to get through to aspiring people who have poetry as a passion, like you. Is it always worth the effort.

*Sigh* I haven't been here as long as most of you guys but i've seen this place change.

Re Mr. Blue's comment: AMEN! YAP has not fulfilled its promise. There are very few here who understand what poetry is really about. Nancy is one of them.

I suppose it's for people to emotionally blackmail complete strangers into saying their poetry's great. I never read 'em, myself - including yours, I'm afraid.
