Will North Korea back down?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100723/pl_nm/us_secur...

When South Korea and The United State perform their military drills, will North Korea follow through with their threats of physical violence?

Given their history, this is likely to be an empty threat. But since they got away with their last unprovoked attack on a South Korean vessel, they may think they can do it again and no one will have the guts to stop them. If they do use physical violence it will likely be against a soft target, far away from the joint military exercises. Sinking a South Korean fishing vessel is more in their line of action. And they will dare the US and South Koreans to retaliate. They didn't do these things when Bush was in office.

North Korea is like the chihuahua that barks at you from behind a fence. When you walk towards the fence it just turns and runs. Jong isn't going to try anything; he knows the US could wipe NK off of the map if we so desired.

  • Hopefully, the last thing the USA needs right now is a 3rd war. But who knows, only time will tell.

I think North Korea isn't strong enough right now to re start the Korean war, but who knows for sure.

No, North Korea hasn't done anything outside it's borders since the Korean war.

Yes.....I do not think they have the capability to survive an attack. Most of their people are starving and they have said things like this before, many times. But they are pushing the envelope.

As soon as North Korea gets its next multi-billion dollar U.S. aid check, all will be fine.

w/ Obama at the helm they would be stupid not to engage in physical violence. We have the weakest leader in decades controlling our troops.

Remember Obama has changed the rules of engagement so troops have to be shot at and do nothing to defend themselves now.

Doubtful. Remember when they threatened a fourth of July attack last year?

Just might prove to be a good opportunity for a limited exchange with the NK's to let them know who they are f*cking with.

I'm thinking... they fire on our ships, we level their capital.
