which sounds better 2ohm or 4ohm?

I have 8" subs in my boat, they are all that will fit where they go, they are in a sealed box, I need to get new ones and want to know if I should go 125x2 @ 2ohm, or 250x1 @ 4ohm

If you are referring to using the same amplifier but just hooking it up either in stereo OR in a bridged mono configuration then it wouldn't make a difference in sound quality because the amplifier would still measure the same distortion figure in either way. In general, for an amplifier that can operate at various impedance loads(8,4,2,1ohm), the distortion figures are always higher at lower impedance.
