CEO Ray Kroc prohibited the company from selling hot dogs, he regarded them as unhygienic; however, hot dogs were introduced in the late 1990s at some midwestern located stores as a summer item. UK Stores sold Hot Dogs during the late nineties. In America they sold Oscar Mayer hot dogs. Despite many attempts to revive the McHotdog, it just never sticks.

I don't know, but "Old Fogey" makes a valid point. In fact I don't know of any of the fast food places, Burger King, etc. that sell hot dogs. Nothing could beat the Dog & Suds where I live. Their footlong coney dogs, root beer and fries are the best.

For legal reasons. Lots of little ones choke on hot dogs. They are the perfect shape to block windpipes. So I suppose that they figured they would lose more in lawsuits from stupid parents who don't know that they have to cut hot dogs in half, longways, before letting their kids eat them.

Hot dogs are already processed parts of animal guts and leftovers. Now imagine how McD's can further process it.
