Edward would love to be with Bella forever but, he wants her to experience all the advantages of a human life and to have fun, rather than just throwing it all away to just be with him forever.

well edward doesnt want bella 2 throw away all her human things for her....he cares about her so much that he doesnt think that he is good enought for her 2 end her human life
and her name is bella not belle

i think that he wants her to be absolutely sure... it's a forever thing. plus when u are a new vampire... u want blood.. like human blood. she's gonna be craving.
