cupcake frosting...need help!?

Recently at a friends party, I had these cupcakes that were awesome. It wasnt the cake part that was so great, that was just a basic yellow cake, but the frosting was not the usual thick frosting that usually accompanies the tops of cupcakes. These were frosted with like some kind of white chocolate frosting and it was hard and very thin layered. It also had some glitter in it. Does anyone know where I could find a recipe like this. I think they also had like some kinda cream in the center, but very little...they were so good cause they were delicate and not the usual heavy cupcakes that are so in right now. 10 Pts best answer...Thanks :-)

Your luck my aunts a baker. She made the same cupcakes once (my idea with glitter!).

The glitter part: you can just use any type of glitter but not a lot. Maybe check cook books, online etc. Here are some ideas from sources. Or ask your friend how she made it.

Source(s): 3 egg yolks, beaten 1 c. sweetened condensed milk 1 c. sugar 1/2 c. butter, melted 4 oz. white chocolate, grated OR Powderd sugar, Grated White Chocolate, Milk, Butter

It sounds like a glaze that is usually poured over things like Petits Fours.

Here is the recipe for the icing.

9 Cups of sifted confectioners sugar

    1/2 Cup water

    1/2 Cup light corn syrup

    1 tsp vanilla

    1/2 tsp almond extract

Combine ingredients in top of a double boiler and heat over boiling water just to luke warm. (Do not over heat or the icing will become dull) Remove from heat, leaving icing over hot water to keep it thin. If desired tint icing pastel colors with food coloring.

    Procedure:

Glaze cakes that have been cut into small squares or rounds, or small cupcakes.

Glaze by placing cake pieces, a few at a time, on a wire rack over a large bowl or baking sheet. Pour icing over top so the entire cake piece is covered. Or hold each cake on a fork and hold over the icing and spoon the icing over the cake. Push the cake off the fork onto a wire rack and allow the glaze to set.

Decorate with glitter or candy flowers or dragees.
