Do I need a HD ready TV with a Sky+HD box?
I want a Sky+ HD box but I am only going to buy a HD ready TV next month. Can I still use the Sky+HD box with a normal TV?
I want the box already as it is for free at the moment if I subscribe to multiroom which I want anyway (otherwise I could have waited).

Yes you can watch HD on a normal tv if you have the right connections but you won't get the HD quality.
Source(s): I have a HD blu-ray disc player on HD setting and can watch anything on my normal tv so I don't see why a sky HD box would be any different. - Anonymous1 decade ago
To watch the HD channels you must have an HD Ready television set and connect it to the Sky HD box with an HDMI cable.
If you do not have an HD Ready tv then you can connect the Sky HD box using a SCART cable and you will only be able to watch Standard Definition programmes.
All television sets sold in the last 4 or 5 years are HD Ready, and some of the newer sets already contain a built in Freeview HD tuner too.
In your case you can connect the Sky HD box to your new television set and connect the multiroom non-HD Sky box to an older tv set.
Remember that Sky will not let you watch the HD channels (even if you have an HD box) unless you pay their extortionate additional £10/month premium on top of the regular Sky subscription. They send an HD activation code to the box when you pay the extra money. It's a very expensive way of getting HD television. Consider buying a Freesat HD box instead. These cost about £120 but there is no subscription.

You got a mix off answers but i know this stuff as i work for sky
If you are a new customer you dint need to take muitroom to get freeset up (existing customers do otherwise £60 set up) you will get free set up by taking 1 movie pack or sport chanel for one month (you need to give 31 days to cancel the pack.) Or if you take there broadband and sky talk if you live in a area were you can get it (BT or sky line rental payable) No you dont need a hd tv for a hd box sky only give hd boxes to all new customers now. Yes to get the hd pack you will need a hd tv and this is £10 a month extra up to 50 Chanel's by xmas the most in the uk. You can get it installed then add the hd pack at a later date when you have the hd tv. This offer i believe finishes on 20th aug.
If you are getting a new tv have a look at the 3d tvs sky will be the 1st company to do 3dtv in Europe on 1st oct

It will work with a normal TV but you won;t be watching high definition. You would be paying the extra each month for HD for no reason. I think its £10 for multiroom and another £10pm for HD

You be seated and read a book and the heroes unfold for the reason that vast panorama which is your brain and creativeness and the opportunity is hundreds, practically hundreds of times greater than the unpleasant Tv set picture

I don't think t.v. is a misuse of your energy, it's that I see no real use of computer nowadays and there is little or nothing educational or rewarding on now. Children of today face 'entertainment' that is just plain stupid and does not have any morale meaning behind them
