Are there "pee proof" convertible carseat covers for when you are potty training? Or, what do you do?

I'm going to start potty training my toddler this coming weekend, and I was thinking... Say next week when he gets used to the idea of going in the potty, are there covers for the carseat in case he has an accident? I'm assuming I'll take him out in underwear. Or, do you put your child in Pull-Ups when you go out and are first training? I'm just afraid of an accident in his carseat. Are there "pee proof" covers, or what do you do?

Piddle Pad is the best. It fits inside the car seat, stroller, high chair, what ever...

Your child might not be ready if he can't stay dry for a few hours. When potty training my granddaughter we traveled with a potty in the trunk in a plastic bag, so we were prepared.

Here are my hints for potty training.

Don't ask if she has to go, just take her every hour.

Get a potty chair and let her decorate it with stickers.

Get a potty DVD like Elmo and let her watch it everyday.

Reward with clapping, singing, jelly beans and stickers.

Get rid of all the diapers and pull ups except at night.

Let her pick out her own big girl pantys.

If she isn't showing any interest, wait a month and try again.

Going to the potty should not be stressful, it should be fun.

I never really thought about this...lol I just always ask him if he has to go potty before we go anywhere. Especially if it's a long drive. Also depends on when he ate or last had a drink. I would just go the cheap way and put a trash bag or something under his/her butt or the cover. That way, when they do it, they have to sit in it until you can clean it up. May sound mean, but it's a good way for them to learn. You know? But my son is in Pull Ups during the day right now. He has a few accidents, so we're trying to lower that before we get real underwear.

when my sone was potty training - i kept car rides short (under 20 mins) and i made sure he emptied out before we left. if the car ride was more than 20 mins, i'd arrange a stop before we got there (at starbucks, if i could swing it! LOL)

ive been told by many car seat techs that after market items (like store bought piddle pads or covers) can reduce the safety of the seat - so ive always avoided "adding" anything to the seat.

We just started "training" our son on sat, he'sonly had 1 accident per day...mainly at daycare...as for in the car...you make them pee before you leave the house or you do not leave. If it's a longer trip, bring a potty with you, or just put a hand towel under them in case of an accident. We skipped pull ups all together, wnet right to undies, diaper at night. Just be sure your toddler is ready!!!

Pull up in the car is fine, or a chuck (doggie training pad or something) can be laid in the carseat. They usually are more apt to tell you in the car and out and about b/c they are not so busy.........they have accidents when they are busy playing.

get some of those "sheets" that they make for animals when they are training and put them in the seat....thats what i was always told to do......or make it simplier and just put them in a pullup
