Christians: What do you think about the Book of Enoch and the Book of Jasher?
Do you believe it to be GOD's inspired word? If not, Then why do they make refference to it in the Bible? "Are not these things written in the Book of Enoch" & "Are these things not recorded in the book of Jasher" I have read both and want to know why a majority of you dont acredit them when they are spoken of in the bible. [Im a Christian] curious as to what your opinions are.

The answer to your question is that the Bible is the story of God's love and redemption for mankind. The Book of Jasher is "The Book of the Generations of Man," according to the statement between the Table of contents and Chapter 1.
I have the book of Jasher also and I have read it. You can buy a copy at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_10?url=se...
Nowhere does it CLAIM to be "God's Inspired Word," nor does it have any "thus saith the Lord" self-vindicating phrases. It does not meet the criterion for canon; it is simply Jewish history. I DO find Jasher interesting reading, and it is referred to in Joshua 10:13 and 2 Samuel 1:18.
Regarding the Book of Enoch, it is not even included in Catholic Bibles with Apocrypha. However, it WAS included in the scrolls found at Qumran which have come to be known as the Dead Sea Scrolls. This is also available at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_4_16?url=se...
I own this Bible also, and this is what it states on page 480 regarding the book of Enoch:
"Of all the "nonbiblical" books found in the caves adjacent to the Dead Sea, the one that offers the most promise of having been considered authoritative to the to the Jewish community at Qumran is 1 Enoch. That some have considered this writing to be God's word is without question. It was quoted by the writer of the New Testament book Jude (vs 14-15, see 1 Enoch 1:9) and has been held in high regard by Ethopian Christians."
"However, Because of the admittedly speculative nature of including it even in a Dead Sea Scrolls Bible, we have chosen not to reproduce the text here." This statement was authored by the editors (translators) of this Bible.
There are quite a number of extra-biblical books NAMED in the Bible:
Exo 24:7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience....
Num 21:14 Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the LORD....
Jos 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth.....
1Ch 29:29 Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer.....
2Ch 20:34 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Jehu the son of Hanani, who is mentioned in the book of the kings of Israel.....
Ezr 4:15 That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records....
Psa 69:28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be.....
Jer 32:12.....that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.
Nah 1:1 The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite....
There are 105 such verses in scripture according to my Bible Software program, which you can download for FREE HERE: http://www.e-sword.net/index.html
My opinion of the books of Jasher and Enoch is that they are Jewish literature and history, but not biblical canon. You are free to disagree with me, I simply answered your question.

In the bible the book of Enoch and Jasher are mentioned. However the jews never considered them to be scripture. No christian church accepts them as scripture except an ethiopian denomination considers the book of Enoch scripture.
Mormons like to point out these books as proof that the bible is incomplete. However their argument falls apart because they do not even consider them scripture in their own church.

I rewrote the Bible and called it, The Real Scriptures of God and included Jasher and Enoch. See Amazon.com for the publisher Xlibris

I like the Book of Enoch (first one) but I haven't read Jasher. I don't know if they are inspired by God but I think the Book of Enoch it is true. It explains a lot of things I have experienced that nothing else has been able to.

"I have read both..."
Uh, no you haven't. You may have read *a* Book of Jasher, but not *the* Book of Jasher mentioned in the Bible, because that's lost.
@ Busy: The Book of Enoch isn't Jewish scripture and there aren't any other books that Jews are taught about. The TaNaKh is scripture, and that's the same thing as the "Old Testament," just in the original language and not mistranslated.

Hmmm Well personally I don't use verses from those books, Christians shouldn't be either that's unusual I believe only what the bible says, not even the jews believe in the book of enoch, I consider it made up, it just seems fishy just kinda seems fake, you can tell the difference between What the prophets wrote and what the crazy liars wrote lol
and yes the book of enoch is of jewish origin look it up

For those who claim that the book of Enoch was never considered scripture, you are greatly mistaken. The book was found amung the Dead Sea Scrolls. It is believed that the Essenes were the ones who have collected those scrolls.
It would then seem that somebody deemed it worthy of study.

It was explained to me like this: The passages that were referred to were used to buffer the assertions made in the Bible, but the books as a whole contain errors in their writings.

Maybe some see this as Jewish tradition because there are books that are not in the bible that Jews in Judaism are being taught so maybe it is a book of Jewish tradition and not biblical.
