how to get a bit more power out of a 2008 jeep liberty?
i have a 2008 jeep liberty limited with the 3.7L V6. everything stock except added a drop in K&N filter.
The issue i have is take off seams week, it will even rolls back on a incline. I'd like to spend a few hundred and no more to give a bit more umph off the line. i am happy with cruising speed, although it does hesitate when trying to pass at highway speeds. I try to use only premium fuel and it helps a "tad"
I have seen chips you can buy, air intakes, exhausts, throttle body spacers, even spark plugs that all claim horse power gains. i am not apposed to a a Little growl, but honestly prefer the vehicle quite if at all possible. so with a budget of say 200-300 is there anything i can do to help.
UPDATE:
Exhaust headers...hmmm.... so would the rest of the exhaust stay the same? or are we talking a full new exhaust.
i guess the budget could push upward a bit but i would hate to spend 800-900 on a full exhaust for hardly noticable difference and have a bumble bee sound, that would be undesirable. however if new exhaust could gain low end torque and give better response time that is noticable....then i am all for it.

headers is a good idea keep the cats if you have a second cat remove and resonator also remove it,
keep the factory cat and muffler now change the 2 inch tube from the cats to the rear muffler to 3.5 inches
replace the engine and tranny oil , use royal purple, it will help a Little

Chips are a scam, never buy one. Also, using premium gas wont necessarily give you more horsepower, it just helps your engine run better and reduces the chances of knocks.
With a $200-300 budget you dont have too many options unfortunately. Maybe an exhaust header, but on a 08 Jeep Liberty that could be a big job.

the car was engineered for optimum performance and efficiency. the guys at jeep know what they're doing. all due respects the K&N filter is purely psychological and does a worse job of filtering than the stock filter and any amount of excess air is useless as it wont change the fuel/air mixture at all (do a search of the more technical sites like BMW club etc whre it's full of pure data)
Chips are a sham, premium might help a little. My $.02 is to enjoy the vehicle you have since it's pretty darn good as is.

best way to get a little more power is to go to a full cold air intake and a 2.5" exhaust system
