I was into Audio well before the first cd player hit the market. I remember when a 35 watt/ch amp was a beast, yep i am that old... I was a dj starting my junior year in high school and through college. I am still very much into audio, and now home theater as well. I try to answer truthfully and honestly, so if you ever see a answer of mine that is incorrect, please let me know, i was likely misinformed myself once and I would hate to continue to pass on misinformation. you can see my car audio install here: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=soundshop2007 system contains: 600 Watt Alpine mono amp 60x4 (2 ohm) MTX thunder amp 1 eD 12" sub in a 1 cu/ft. sealed enclosure. infinity Kappa speakers all around..(5 1/4's) (2ohm) factory head unit. with high low level converter.

  • how to get a bit more power out of a 2008 jeep liberty?

i have a 2008 jeep liberty limited with the 3.7L V6. everything stock except added a drop in K&N filter.

The issue i have is take off seams week, it will even rolls back on a incline. I'd like to spend a few hundred and no more to give a bit more umph off the line. i am happy with cruising speed, although it does hesitate when trying to pass at highway speeds. I try to use only premium fuel and it helps a "tad"

I have seen chips you can buy, air intakes, exhausts, throttle body spacers, even spark plugs that all claim horse power gains. i am not apposed to a a Little growl, but honestly prefer the vehicle quite if at all possible. so with a budget of say 200-300 is there anything i can do to help.

  • why do i get "This webpage is not available." for only some sites?

i am running windows XP w/ SP3 and in google chrome i get the message "webpage not available" the same pages are not available using IE 8 as well. funny thing is most sites work, but not windows update, and other misc. spybot update and windows defender, i have the latest updates on my ESET internet security and no threats were found on a "in depth" scan.

so why can i not connect to some sites, while others work?

I access the internet, by way of a hard wired connection to "2701HG-B Gateway"

  • Should i upgrade the brake pads when getting my brakes done?

I own a jeep wrangler, i tow nothing and just drive around town. i went to a local brake shop (Merlin) and got a estimate, for around 350 for front pads and rotors, and rear drum brake adjust. i have no problem paying that if the parts are quality parts. the pads are Bendix ceramic and the rotors are U.S. Brake rotors, does anyone know if these are good parts? i know a place where i could get slotted rotors and Hawk pads, but they would cost around 350 for just parts. so it naturally would cost way more after installation ($90).

    any and all help appreciated

  • What do you look for when determining our next president? ?

I would not consider myself politically informed, but it amazes me what people look at when trying to determine our next president. To me i care about which person overall can best represent the US and who can guide her down the best overall path in the future. To me individual topics are not sole reason to vote one way or another, nor is if they smoked pot, or if they fought in a war, or if there 3rd cousin was in jail, i mean do any of these things make dealing with congress easier? I mean what is important to you when choosing our next commander in chief.

  • How do you make a system really bump? ?

    I'll tell ya how..

    First understand SPL

it is measured in db and 1db is the smallest volume change the human ear can hear. 10db is "twice as loud" and when power is doubled it is equal to 3db. likewise doubling cone surface area is 3db. and a properly made box can easily make a 3db difference over a enclosure that is poorly made.

Now speakers have a efficiency rating, it is a measure of db @ 1 watt @ 1 meter. so the higher the number the louder it is.

often times a sub will put out much more volume in a ported enclosure than a sealed enclosure.

so with that information here is a example..

System A - 1000 watts RMS driving a single 12" 87db sub with a off the shelf sealed sub enclosure.

    System B - 250 watts RMS driving 2 x 12" 90db subs with a custom made ported box.

these systems would cost about the same, but the second would be louder... even with a mere 250 watts. take this system x2 and now the first needs electrical upgrades (~$400) but the second works with a stock alternator.

  • which would be a faster hard drive setup?

    option A

single seagate SATA 32 mb cache 500gb

    option b

two seagate sata 16mb cache 250gb (stripped)

the cost between the two is nearly the same (give or take 10 bucks) I would think the stripped set is faster by a fair amount , but unless it is pretty noticable i would prefer the simplisity of one drive.

    what are the experts thoughts.

PS i know a stripped set is less secure, but i have a single 250 gb ATA i am using for "storage" and it will be backed up, i am refering only for use for the main install drive for os and programs only.

  • are there laws requireing a business to maintain certain temperatures in Illinions?

I am asking this question because my wife works at a doctors office where the HVAC has been oin the fritz for months, and the thermastat is broken so it ranges dramatically from cold to hot.. see they let it get very cold, then they monkey with it to get the heat going, but then it doesn't shut off, when it gets WAY hot they then monkey with it to get it to shut off and this repeats over and over... the temperature swing is easily 40 degress, are there any laws regulating the lowest, highest, or swing in temperature?

  • Do people really know what sound quality is?

I see people refering to loud systems as sounding good, systems that were put together with high powered spl stuff that was not made with sound quality in mind at all... and saying things like that sub sounds wayy better in a ported box... it just makes me wonder do they really know what good sound is? or is louder "better" to most people these days?

I first learned what "sound quality" truely was when back in 1986 i heard a pair of getz speakers driven by a pair of BK mono blocks all conected with tributaries cabling.. i heard a drum solo from buddy rich and max roach that was on a record... and man it sounded like they were right there i literally got major goose bumps.... the system was a home system costing around 10k. from then on i knew what near perfection sounded like, today i think kids hear a pricy best buy installed kicker system and think thats what a SQ system is... am i wrong? or has the majority settled for compressed mp3's and low quality in car audio.
