Sheriff Tony DeMeo should. He is one who has taken a stand against illegal Federal Government theft.

Yes, police officers should be given 100% support from the public.

As long as the cops know the people in the community that they patrol, they'll get plenty of support from the public. But as long as they continue being nothing more than a bunch of anonymous blue uniforms cruising down the street in a standard government-issued patrol car, nobody will know them from a goddamn hole in the wall. Maybe there ought to be a law requiring police officers to live in the same neighborhood that they work in.

The police have a lot of support from the public. There is a small minority of people who have either been to jail or had numerous tickets who don't support the police.

This question is set up to receive a lot of ignorant stupid responses from a lot of people. Mostly from teenagers with little to respect for authority figures. Police officers or their parents. To be honest with you in an adult prospect i respect them very much. If you do not cause trouble in public, you will not bring down the attention of the law. If by some chance you are approached by an officer, do not give an attitude,be polite, follow orders, you have done nothing wrong you will be on your way. easy as that.

I do not know if they should be given more support but we should acknowledge that they put themselves in harm's way. I think that at times the police are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Maybe if there were more civilians doing admin in police stations and the police actually on the street policing their area things would be better.

    Yes!!

I hate how some people talk to (and about) police officers!

They put their own safety on the line to protect everyone else and I wish some people could see that they are only there to help.

I think they have the toughest, most mentally, emotionally and physically draining job out there and deserve more respect!!!

    YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!!

I would love to give them more support, however I cannot support an institution that lacks integrity and is full of corruption like the system currently in place. In my life I've personally seen so many police officers doing very unethical things that makes me wonder if they are really in that profession to protect people. If the system is cleaned up, they are given better training, they are taught not to racially profile, if more checks were in place to avoid abuses of power, then I would be the first to fully support them but I will not give respect, it has to be earned.

    Well said David.

If you spend too long on here , the atitudes of some can wear you down. :)

We just had a young officer pull over a driver, and as he got out he was immediately killed by the driver who had a shotgun. He had 2 young boys.

I can't think of too many jobs that require you to put your life on the line every day.

I say thank you to every officer.
