why won't my tomatoes turn red? Even after I picked them and put them in a paper bag?
They are huge but NONE of them have turned red. I have 11 bushes loaded with huge green tomatoes. After following some advice I cut the vine and placed them in a paper bag and they still won't turn. I'm desperate! I have dreams of canning tons of sauce and diced tomatoes but they're not cooperating.

Remove any stems without blooms. When the plant gets that big the sunlight cannot get to the tomatoes to ripen them. If you do this, you'll thin out the unnecessary foliage, opening up the plant to the sunlight. Soon you will have your tomatoes~

You're really not supposed to pick the tomatoes until they're ready on the vine.
If you pick them before, as you said, they might not turn red, and also, you don't get the full flavour of the tomato as you do when it's ready on the vine.
In the future I suggest leaving them on the plant and just wait for them to change colour, they'll start off an ugly shade of orange but they'll be really red and ripe after about a week of changing colour.
I don't know how you get them to turn red now, but you could try putting them with some already ripened veg, it works with bananas anyway.
Good luck!

the only obvious variable i will think of of is image voltaic so maybe no image voltaic reddens the tomatoes so a sparkling bag does not be as sturdy as a brown bag yet you may placed as many tomatoes as you may in advantageous condition into the bag i think im not a botanist im only taking an informed guess desire it enables (Y)
