What was the first NASCAR race that you attended?

....and how did you feel as you were leaving the track? If you haven't been to a race yet, tell me about the first race you watched on TV or video.

Update:

Edit: Yes, but how did it make you feel?

    Las Vegas 2007.

I remember feeling relieved that our son could handle that much stimulation, and that it would have to become an annual event. He was the reason we waited as long as we did before attending

    And it has.

    And he still does great!

    Yay!!

*I've mentioned before, but to those who didn't know..my son is about to turn 16, and he is Autistic*

My first NASCAR race, I was probably about 5 or 6. It wasn't at the big tracks but at a local dirt track where they ran one of the smaller NASCAR series. My Dad took the boys in the family, our neighbor ran a car and I thought it was the absolute best. I even decided at that time I wanted to be a race car driver when I grew up. We went to the races nearly every weekend during the season, and sometimes we were allowed into the pit for our neighbor, "helping out" with tools and whatever. It was a young race fans dream come true. I've been hooked on racing every since.

The first NASCAR sanctioned race I went to was a Modified race at Riverhead Raceway on Long Island in 2005 or 2006. My first Cup race was the 2006 Dover 400. It was the race when Jeff Burton and Matt Kenseth were battling for the win and Kenseth ran out of gas on the last lap and finished 10th. It started pouring after the race but I didn't care. The traffic leaving the track was terrible but it was worth it.

2007 Busch Series at the Milwaukee Mile.

at the time when we were leaving, "i need a bathroom now!!!". i never really used the bathroom when the race was going. i had seen that there were plenty of bathrooms before the race, and during the race, but i'm guessing everyone else had held in the use for the bathroom too, because every bathroom had a long line and you couldn't jump ahead. you had to wait, and wait. my brother and i did find one port-o-john, and used it.

now about the whole nascar live experience, i got my money's worth and more that night. there was plenty to see and do before the race even started, then when came the race when i heard all 43 engines fire up, i felt a chill in my spine, like this is where i belong. from the green flag to the checkered flag, i was on my feet in uh, and ah. so when i left the track that night, i wished that there could have been a hundred more laps. i would have stayed for that.

1998 in Atlanta. It was cool because it was the last race of the season and since the Winston Cup title was already won by Gordon it looked to be an all out race for the win and not points. Unfortunately it rained most of the day and since the race teams didn't want to race on Monday, they got the race in and finished just after midnight. It was the first night race in Atlanta Motor-speedway's history. On a more somber note, the pole was won by the then ROY Kenny Irwin who died just a few years later. Got to take my picture of the car before the race.

OK its not as cool as Problem Child's 1979 Daytona 500 race, but it was a great first race.

Sam's Town 250, Memphis Motorsports Park, Oct. 31, 1999. It was a Busch race, and the only race I've been to so far. I was mostly annoyed leaving because some fool decided it was okay to build one exit out of that place so there was a massive traffic jam on the way out and it took over 2 hours just to get out of the parking lot. But I'm guessing that's not what you're talking about. I still had the adrenaline rush going from the race for a little while until the waiting finally wore it down.

My first race was Dover and it was in 1997 and Dick Trickle won..lol What did I think? Well I was in heaven. Total heaven. I was mesmerized the majority of the time by the cars, sounds and sights. Like a little kid at Disney World for the first time. After the race it felt like I was on a high. Sort of like how people felt in the 70's with coming together of America but with out the drugs. It was such a nice feeling. A feeling of sheer joy.

    The Coca-Cola 600 in 2009, at Charlotte.

I felt both relieved and let-down as I left the track. It was the first 600 to be rained out in 50 years, it was rescheduled for the next day, and it continued to shower, or threaten to shower, even when it was finally run. We got drenched, did a lot of sitting and waiting and slogging through red clay mud, and met a few rude and evil-tempered fans (though they had reason, I guess.) The racing wasn't that great, we were tired of Charlotte, and traffic was godawful. It took almost 2 hours to get out of the parking lot. I think that experience has turned me forever against CMS :P

The second race we went to was Martinsville this year. It got rained out too, but the second day was great...good racing, we could see everything clearly, and it was a great race. Even though conditions were just as nasty as they were at Charlotte, the fans were much nicer all around...helped push several stuck people out of the mud. That day I felt pumped when I left the track :P

My first was the Spring 2006 Atlanta Busch Race. As I was leaving the track I was just so thrilled to be able to have been at the race!

    NASCAR: Daytona 500 - 1979

    Richard Petty took it

But my Father was a race car driver locally here in my city in Florida since I was about 4, so I grew up in the pits and attending races. I was used to the RUSH of it all in a BIG way, but once you feel it at Daytona, you are Daytona for life.

I've never seen a race in real life BUT my first time was at Michigan when I was 12.....We went on Friday just to watch the qualifying and practices. And when we were leaving I was sad and happy at the same time. And as for the first race I watched on TV I was probably 5-9 And I wached my first FULL race when I was abbot 10-11. I just started watching one day because my dad was waching it. I bet he got annoyed with the questions I had to ask LOL.
