Trans Union Class Action Suit Scam?

I think most people have seen the TV commercial from some law firm. The problem is the deadline for filing a claim ended in 2008. The money will be sent out to people who filed a claim in Sept 2010. So how is this law firm going to get you money if the deadline to file was in 2008? Here is the link to their claim site. http://www.tuclaim.com/file-a-claim/ Way to much personal info to take a chance on giving out over the internet. Does anyone know if this is legitimate? To me, it seems like a scam to get personal info.

Seems you are unsure of the meaning of the word "escrow"

Something advertised on a TV commercial is hardly likely to be a scam

I think it is a scam. It the deadline for filing ended in 2008, then what is the point of giving over personal information now for. I would not trust or would want to take a chance. These lawyers are in texas, and I read the small print on the TV ad (since I can pause my shows) did not like what they are advertising. Personally, I dont trust them.

The Court granted final approval of the settlement. You may click here to view the Court’s Order. The deadline to register for benefits was September 24, 2008 and has since passed. No further registrations for benefits are being accepted. E-mails explaining how to begin receiving credit monitoring benefits will be distributed to eligible Class Members December 2009 through February 2010. Please note that if you registered for the potential cash benefit, a final determination and potential distribution will not occur until all claims against the fund are resolved, which will not happen before September 2010, and could be as late as October 2011.

Read the second sentence: No further registrations for benefits are being accepted. Distribution is only for those who already registered

I would have to agree with BigDaddy on this one. The law firms wind up with all the money with the way the payments are broken down and on top of that you will wind up paying fees out of your pocket for processing and .25 cents a page for the document. Valid law suit but the Lawyer Sharks are once again taking advantage of the victims.

read the fine print - one company gets 50% - then two companies get 11.67% each - and if that's not bad enough the fourth company gets 26.66% - do the math between them they get 100% - you don't have to be a genius to figure out what you get (screwed)
